Once again, a bit o` shuffling in the gear department!
It goes like this: Either my Randy Rhoads LTD 200 or my latest aquisitions, a Jackson Randy Rhoads RR5 and a Jackson DK2M, into a Furman SPB-8 stereo board/power conditioner. I run a BBE Sonic Stomp [one of my "secret weapons" and a definite "must-have"!], an MXR Smart Gate, an old `70s` MXR 6-band EQ, an MXR Micro Amp, and a Digitech Jimi Hendrix Experience pedal into the boards effects loop. The signal then goes into a Digitech Whammy pedal and then a Morely Bad Horsie II Wah Wah pedal, . Then into an effects rack which consists mostly of old Rockman gear. I run the guitar from the pedalboard to a Rockman Sustainor Model 200. From there the signal runs into two Rockman Instrument EQs`, one pre and one post Sustainor. After that, the signal goes into a Rockman Stereo Chorus, which I mostly use for the stereo effect, as well as to thicken the sound. Then into a Rockman Stereo Echo, then into a BBE Sonic Maximizer [another "must-have`s"], then into an ADA Micro-Tube 200 power amp and into a Behringer 4x12. This rests atop my OTHER "secret weapon", an Auralex Great GRAMMA sound isolation platform, certainly one of the more useful bits of gear to come down the pike!
The following riffs are MP3 files that were converted from wav. files. The clips were made while was experimenting with various mic placements on/around the 4x12, so they are FAR from "perfect", so take `em for what they are; some clown messing about with only a SLIGHT idea of where he`s going!;)[but having fun while doing so!]
You can listen to the clips at the link below; I put them on a different host page to save space here at Angelfire. As I said earlier, these were just some licks that I just rattled off at will, for the sole purpose of seeing which mic placement would work best; I`m still getting the hang of recording with a PC. Some of the clips sound "cut off" at the end because I edited out some of the REAL howlers. Also, please be aware that at time these clips tend to be a little bass heavy, and there`s some break-up, as well. The microphone [which I ran into a little 3-channel mixer] was a few inches from the cabinet, and probably not able to handle the volumes which I was inflicting on it. All of the major studios were booked solid that day, so I had to make do!;) I`ve also added some video clips, which were recorded with my digital camera at various times; just me doing more of the same;)
Any comments, critisims, whatever, are welcome. Hey, I`m a tough, hardened reporter, I can take it! **UPDATE** Please click the image below to visit my YouTube page! [I`ve added 3 more videos there in addition to those found on this page].
