Student Walks Out Of Classroom

Back To The Watchers Connection

Story by: Yves Adele Harlow Reporter

Lana Kell has been sent to in-house for walking out of a classroom. The walkout happened during sixth hour in Ms. Luncuk’s class.

A substitute teacher was subbing for Ms. Luncuk. Kell had gotten permission from another teacher, Mrs. Goddard, to go to her class and help students dissect. The sub didn’t believe her and didn’t let her leave the class because she didn’t have a pass. I think it was pretty reasonable of him since there was not a signed pass. Many students feel that they can take advantage of subs because they aren’t the normal teachers, but this sub was smarter than that. Then Kell, being the smart girl that she is, told him that he wasn’t a real teacher and that Mrs. Goddard had more authority. Smart move, huh? Basically, it’s true, but you’re still supposed to treat them like a teacher because when another teacher isn’t there, they become the teacher. She tried to cover up her mistake by saying, “I’m having a bad day,” but right afterwards, she ruined that last comment by saying, “I’m just going to walk out of her. I don’t care if I get suspended. You have no say in it anyway.” Kell did stick to her threat and she walked out of the classroom for the rest of the day.

The next day, Ms. Luncuk heard about the incident and talked to Kell about it and also talked to some of Kell’s friends who were cheering Kell on and arguing with the substitute. Kell got in-house suspension for a day while her friends got a warning since they weren’t as insubordinate as Kell was. All I know is, beware of Lana Kell when she’s having ‘a bad day.’
