Macintosh Users Groups (MUGS) help both new and experienced users to get the most from their Macintosh computers and provide a social atmosphere and network for Macintosh users to connect with each other.

The Villages MUG, over three hundred strong and growing, has programs in help with Basic Mac Skills, presentations about popular software applications, experts on hand in many fields to offer individual help, Special Interest Groups (SIGs) for small group interaction and learning, and great refreshments at every Wednesday meeting.

Every third Tuesday of the month at 1:30 p.m. small group sessions are offered in Mac basics and other problems members may have. This is an informal session, based mostly on the questions of the attending members.

The club's structured meeting to do business and learn new skills is every fourth Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Meetings open with announcements, then move to a presentation by a club member or visiting expert. Some upcoming programs will be on iWorks, iPhoto, computer graphics, and Print Shop. Following the formal program is a question and answer session with the audience and expert members. Raffles and refreshments enliven a social time to finish out the evening.

We invite all Macintosh users and any others with a curiosity and interest in Macintosh computers to our meetings. All meetings are held at Saddlebrook Recreation Center in The Villages, Florida.

The VMUG Forum

A new feature in Apple Slices, our VMUG monthly newsletter, is THE FORUM.

THE FORUM is a place for people to share their Macintosh experiences with the rest of the group.

For instance:After some experimentation and frustration, you finally found out that the reason your text in Microsoft Word was not in the middle of the page and you couldn't change those wide white margins was that you were working in Normal view instead of Page Layout View.

Tell everyone about it. People will love you - especially ones with the same problem. Email The Forum detailing your discovery or solution and it will be published in Apple Slices. Send your emails to Sue Tribble at ShoeBob5@comcast.net or Ralph Smith at rtsmith@mac.com

You may notice that the email addresses look a little different. The links work just fine - try one. We are trying to fight spam by having the addresses encoded to deter robots from harvesting them, but allowing humans to visually read and use them. We are using a program named Enkoder to handle the encoding (take a peak at the source code and try to find a real address).
