President George W. Bush

The White House

Dear Mr. President,

Thank you for the many correct decisions you have been making regarding the war on terrorism. We do not know whether our previous letters have been part of this process or not but are pleased that for whatever reason your chosen courses of action have been consistent with our previous recommendations.

This letter contains what we believe to be the most important recommendation we have made so far. We urge that enormous numbers of copies of the Quran be dropped into the population concentrations in Afghanistan, both in printed form and in audio form. In both formats we recommend that excerpts be presented in the front which demonstrate that the terrorists are in violation of the Quran. We are enclosing a selection of excerpts contributed by Mr. and Mrs. A.M. Azad as a starting point.

The audio form is especially key since only 30% of the male population is reported to be literate with even lower reported literacy rates among females (you will have access to more accurate data). Toy stores in the U.S. are selling devices with prerecorded content stored within playback devices and these are the prototypes for the recommended audio devices to be dropped into Afghanistan.

The situation in the Muslim countries today is similar to the situation that existed in the West prior to the availability of the printing press: the people have to take the word of clerics for what is in The Book – i.e. for what is the word of God. If those clerics are imperfect then the people’s understanding of their own religion will be imperfect. This is against the interests of the entire world. The people of the region can be more easily taken in by the terrorist rhetoric today than will be the case once they begin to spread the real word of Allah as heard by their prophet. Subsequent airdrops of printing presses, paper and ink will be a logical extension of the campaign once it has gained a foothold in the minds of the people.

The natural distrust of the material we drop requires that our front line troops include Muslim clerics willing to risk their lives to spread the truth. The combination of these elements will in time gain traction and seriously impede the ability of the terrorists to use religion as their rationalization and as a recruiting lubricant. This will isolate the criminal core of the group and greatly reduce their overall efficacy.

A side effect of this campaign will be the beginnings of increase of literacy in the country. Once proven and refined in Afghanistan the technique will probably be found useful in other countries in the region.

4:151 (al-‘Anaam)

Say: “Come, I will rehearse what Allah has really prohibited you from” : join not anything with Him; be good to  your parents; kill not your children on a plea of want – We provide sustenance for you and for them; come not nigh to indecent deeds, whether open or secret;  take not life, which Allah hath made sacred, except by the way of justice and law: thus doth He command you that you may learn wisdom

17:33 (al-Israa)

Nor take life which Allah has made sacred- except for just cause. And if slain wrongfully, We have given his heir authority (to demand Qisas or to forgive) but let him not exceed the bounds in the matter of taking life; for he is helped by law.

5.32 (al-Maidah)

On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any one slew a person - unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people: and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. Then although there came to them Our messengers with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land.

Volume 1, Book 3, Number 85: bukhari

Narrated Abu Huraira:

The Prophet said, "(Religious) knowledge will be taken away (by the death of religious scholars) ignorance (in religion) and afflictions will appear; and Harj will increase." It was asked, "What is Harj, O Allah's Apostle?" He replied by beckoning with his hand indicating "killing." (Fateh-al-Bari Page 192, Vol. 1)

Book 001, Number 0160: Muslim

Ubaidullah b. Abu Bakr said: I heard Anas b. Malik saying: The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) talked about the major sins, or he was asked about the major sins. Upon this he observed: Associating anyone with Allah, killing of a person, disobedience to parents. He (the Holy Prophet further) said: Should I not inform you about the gravest of the major sins, and (in this connection) observed: False utterance or false testimony. Shu'ba said. It was most probably" false testimony".

Book 001, Number 0203:

It is narrated on the authority of Thabit b. Dahhak that the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) observed: He who took deliberately a false oath on a religion other than Islam would become that which he had professed. And he who killed himself with anything Allah would torment him with that in the Fire of Hell

This is a very interesting hadith that a man from one of the major battles was still of hell fire as he had committed suicide. This casts a big doubt on what is taught by these mullahs that suicide bombers will attain Jannah:

Book 001, Number 0206:

It is reported on the authority of Sahl b. Sa'd al-Sa'idi that there was an encounter between the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) and the polytheists, and they fought (against one another). At the conclusion of the battle the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) bent his steps towards his army and they (the enemies) bent their steps towards their army. And there was a person (his name was Quzman and he was one of the hypocrites) among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) who did not spare a detached (fighter of the enemy) but pursued and killed him with the sword. They (the Companions of the Holy Prophet) said: None served us better today than this man Upon this the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) remarked: Verily he is one of the denizens of Fire. One of the people (Muslims) said: I will constantly shadow him. Then this man went out along with him. He halted whenever he halted, and ran along with him whenever he ran. He (the narrator) said: The man was seriously injured. He (could not stand the pain) and hastened his own death. He placed the blade of the sword on the ground with the tip between his chest and then pressed himself against the sword and killed himself. Then the man (following him) went to the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) and said: I bear testimony that verily thou art the Messenger of Allah, He (the Holy Prophet) said: What is the matter? He replied: The person about whom you just mentioned that he was one among the denizens of Fire and the people were surprised (at this) and I said to them that I would bring (the news about him) and consequently I went out in search of him till I (found him ) to be very seriously injured. He hastened his death. He placed the blade of the sword upon the ground and its tip between his chest and then pressed himself against that and killed himself. Thereupon the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) remarked: A person performs the deeds which to the people appear to be the deeds befitting the dweller of Paradise, but he is in fact one of the denizens of Hell. And verily a person does an act which in the eyes of public is one which is done by the denizens of Hell, but the person is one among the dwellers of Paradise.

Book 21, Number 21.3.8:

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab that a son of Kab ibn Malik (Malik believed that ibn Shihab said it was Abd ar-Rahman ibn Kab) said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, forbade those who fought ibn Abi Huqayq (a treacherous Jew from Madina) to kill women and children. He said that one of the men fighting had said, 'The wife of ibn Abi Huqayq began screaming and I repeatedly raised my sword against her. Then I would remember the prohibition of the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, so I would stop. Had it not been for that, we would have been rid of her.' "

Book 21, Number 21.3.10:

Yahya related to me from Malik from Yahya ibn Said that Abu Bakr as-Siddiq was sending armies to ash-Sham. He went for a walk with Yazid ibn Abi Sufyan who was the commander of one of the battalions. It is claimed that Yazid said to Abu Bakr, "Will you ride or shall I get down?" Abu Bakrsaid, "I will not ride and you will not get down. I intend these steps of mine to be in the way of Allah."

Then Abu Bakr advised Yazid, "You will find a people who claim to have totally given themselves to Allah. Leave them to what they claim to have given themselves. You will find a people who have shaved the middle of their heads, strike what they have shaved with the sword.

"I advise you ten things: Do not kill women or children or an aged, infirm person. Do not cut down fruit-bearing trees. Do not destroy an inhabited place. Do not slaughter sheep or camels except for food. Do not burn bees and do not scatter them. Do not steal from the booty, and do not be cowardly."
