GARY SPANEOLA - “PROJECT ONE” (1986/TRACK RECORDS/USA)

Lead singer Gary Spaneola used to be in the Detroit band BITTER SWEET ALLEY, but he also released a solo record in 1986. Musically it contained standard mid 1980s Poprock, very much like GARY O' and also RICK SPRINGFIELD once again. I am not too impressed with the album, which actually isn't that far away from BITTER SWEET ALLEY either, and only the uptempo poprockers "Trying to find" and "Can't stop me now" (with an awesome guitarsolo by the way!) sounded good, but the rest of the album was almost quirky Poprock, so not really interesting. Although some people rate BITTER SWEET ALLEY quite high, I always find this a very average Poprockband, and also the solo record of the band's lead singer is not interesting (except for 2 songs). Especially AOR fans need to stay away from this average release!
