Although Publish America outwardly sounds like a good idea to a writer looking for a hassle free sort of publisher, (they do not reject any manuscript, they don't edit the work ) there is much to be desired in the long run. If you are just looking to have your work in print to share with family and friends, they are wonderful for that, however so are some other sites that are self-publishing, and I haven't compared the costs of buying my own books from Publish America and the costs of self-publishing, but the results, (no promotion and the author carries the burden of it all), comes out the same.
While I am pleased for the opportunity to share my work with others, I realize that in stating they don't reject work, that gives a mark against the quality of a writer's labors. When I queried PA I had noted that my work had already been professionally edited, so I had assumed they read my work, agreed with the editor who worked on it, and that my book was ready to market. (I was also unaware of the fact that the editor who had worked on my piece was "questionable." Ah the pitfalls of being a writer!)
BEASTS has received some wonderful reviews from those who have read BEASTS, and I am forever grateful to those readers for taking the time to tell others.
My project of making BEASTS a longer read and more in depth story is on hold at the moment for a project I find to be more interesting...I am writing a series of stories with my oldest grandson aimed at preteens. His idea! Can't wait to find a publisher interested and get this boy's career on the move! Keep an eye out on this site for information on this event.

Step into the world of sacred rites, shape-shifting and horror! See what happens when young, twin Havasupai brothers discover the Old Ones ways and the dark side of Creation, Sister Moon. There is a beast inside all of us. What beast resides within you?
The story begins in the present with the murder of two transients, the subsequent investigation and the discovery by detectives that there is a serial killer on the loose. During the introduction of Ezra and Eli GreyWolf; the antagonists, the story flashes back to their youth in the early 1940s and their days served in World War II.
BEASTS not only introduces you to the characters in the work, but lets you peer into the minds and lives of the killers, their reasoning behind their actions and their beliefs.
I want to thank everyone who has purchased my book, and a double thanks to those who have gone into Publish America and Amazon.com and given reviews of the book. I appreciate your support and kind words.

“I believe when possible, a writer should be able to bring their style to life in many subjects, not stereotyping themselves into just one niche. There is nothing wrong with specializing in one genre, we all have to do what we do best, but I feel it helps us to keep from getting tunnel vision if we spread our writing wings and try a little of everything we can.”

ODE TO MY SISTER
Memories of childhood past, will always linger near.
You started off as my best friend fast, and ended up as my sister so dear.
Everything we have ever said or done together remains tucked away in a special place, not only in my mind or a small box of memorabilia, but deep inside my heart and soul.
We’ve had more ups than downs in our long togetherness, but whether the times have been good or bad, the truth is we’ve stuck together, happy and sad.
To call you my sister over the years has made my heart feel glad.
So I sit these last days waiting, suffering inside, to know that soon I’ll no longer hear your voice, see your face, or feel your touch for these things easily fade far too fast and leave us with an emptiness.
Your absence will be felt in a deep and sorrowful way, but by no means will you be forgotten, and all the joy you have brought to my life will forever be celebrated and remain.

Memorial to Judy on her funeral card. I felt it said it all for those of us left behind.
God saw she was getting tired And a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around her And whispered, come with Me.
With tearful eyes we watched her suffer And saw her fade away. Although we loved her dearly, We could not make her stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, Hardworking hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.

Spring of Freedom
by
Sandy Nichols
Over two hundred years ago our nation was conceived and blessed by an Almighty Creator who bestowed upon us a most precious gift..."Freedom." To be able to understand the true meaning and nature of freedom, one must look at freedom as the lifeblood of our nation. This lifeblood of freedom is like a spring of pure water from which all things are nourished so that all things may grow. In receiving and accepting this gift we took on the awesome responsibility of protecting this "Spring of Freedom" so that we could share with others the sweet taste of the water that the spring offers. But there are many people today who believe that because we freely drink from the refreshing waters today, that we will be able to drink from it tomorrow. History has proven time and time again and throughout the ages that to retain freedom, one must be willing to fight for freedom on a continuous basis. This is never more apparent than the age we live in today. We must not let those who wish us harm to poison the "Spring of Freedom." The "Spring of Freedom" is the very essence of who we are as a people, who we are as a nation. Without the "Spring of Freedom," the whole world thirsts.
My prayers are for the continuing leadership of President Bush and Vice-President Cheney, the brave souls of our fighting men and women who have taken up arms against tyranny, the elected members of both Houses who forsake personal gains for the betterment and protection of our nation, for policemen, firefighters and other law enforcement officials whose bravery echoes in the songs of unsung heroes, and for the citizens of our great nation that they may have wisdom to choose the right leaders.

LITTLE MAN
by Violet Finkle
Little man you're getting tired;
you've had quite a day.
It's time you closed your pretty eyes;
and put your toys away.
Your laughter filled the house today;
it made the rafters ring.
And when you're near the sun shines through;
and I hear angels sing.
the end
And here is one she jotted down but never named:
Oh for the life of a little child;
a life that is carefree and gay.
Not a worrying thought to trouble you.
All you do is play.
by C. Lee Finkle
He sat next to me in church;
such a fine young boy.
We listened as the Pastor spoke of glory to God;
the parish sat and quietly they did nod.
The sweet child smiled up at me and felt my face;
the Pastor continued to talk about Holy Grace.
In a whisper not so silent the boy spoke to me;
his words echoed for all to hear who sat in the sanctuary.
"Nana...your chins feel rubbery!"
by C. Lee Finkle
“They are gifts from God” I replied, rubbing noses with him “Eskimo” style.
“Was I a gift too?”
“Of course you are!” We squeezed each other for the length of a giggle.
“But Nana, my baby brother is not a gift” he huffed as he folded his arms across his chest. “Maybe we should return him” deep thought was apparent in his sparkling hazel eyes.
“Heavens no!” I laughed. “These gifts are more precious than diamonds or gold.”
“Even him?”
“Oh yes, all babies, Dear One.”
He smiled and kissed my cheek, and I held him tight, reflecting on the years and the babies that had rested on my lap. The little ones who had asked those same questions and hugged me tight.
With my hand I brushed his hair back from his eyes.
The 2-year-old burst into the room, arms flailing, all excited. “Broke!” he yells. “Me broke you car.” Out the door again he zooms, pieces of Hot Wheel trailing behind.
“Nana, if we can't send him back, do you suppose we could maybe just rewrap him for a few hours?”
LOVE, HATE AND MIND RAPE ON THE INTERNET
© C. Lee Finkle 1997
What a lovely place to express yourself; the Internet. What an ideal means of communications from one mind to another. To be able to reach out and give of yourself from one computer to another; from one country to another; all over the world! We are at the highest point ever for keeping in touch with our fellow human beings, but at what price does this wondrous technological device come?
The Internet is a communicative dream come true for many of us. We can play with newfound friends online; chatter in chat rooms and there is even cyber sex for the extremely lonely (and often perverted) souls. There are rooms to hook up with people with like mindsets and rooms to play games, discuss movies, books, anything your heart desires. Most of the benefits of the Internet are truly beneficial if you use them properly…but what about the unsuspecting person who trusts that they are communicating with another whose intent is the same as their own? What about finding that spirit you think of as your Soul Mate, only to discover they have been deceiving you all along? Most of the time this deceit is discovered early on as the player doesn’t like to play his head games too long because it loses that attraction for them once the thrill of the deception either carries on too long or suspicions begin to tear their game apart. There has been, however, an occasional online affair that will drag on until the one being taunted and deceived either finds the strength and courage to end it, or does something drastic.
Deceitful users don’t just come in the form of a cyber lover wanting to whisk you away and give you more than you have ever had. These scammers know all about you from your notes to one another and learn what to use against you and how to hurt you deeply. The scammers also come in news groups and mailing lists and some just watch and see what posters are the most vulnerable and figure out ways to get inside of their world and destroy whatever it is they are after. So why do we continue to play this game of hearts and minds that bring us so much sorrow and pain? Because those who are able to be manipulated because of their desires, hopes, fears and longing for something tangible and real, continue to have these needs, and those who feed off of others wants and inner feelings are vampires of the soul, rapists of the hearts and minds and will always need this food provided to them by others.
So many are fearful of the viruses passed around the Internet, that eat at our computers, cause us inconveniences, but the worst virus of all effects our capacity to have unfettered communications fearlessly with those of our own race, the human race. No truer words were ever penned than that which says “no man is an island” for without the touch, whether physical or mental, of another being of our own kind, we cannot survive the rigors of this world. Without the warmth of another’s companionship we fall short of being whole. This is what these Internet sadists feed upon.
Be strong, don’t be a victim, be someone who has brought their soul and Spirit up from the ashes of a burned cyber relationship and into the light to rebuild and nourish themselves into the grandeur of someone who has lived through the worst and is now headed for the best. Bring forth your own power and know that you do not have to let this bring you down. You are not going to be trod upon with a defeatist attitude that would sling you into the depths of a personal Hell. You and only you can use these bad experiences to forge a strong and powerful new stance that makes you ruler of your own world, and no one can take that away from you.
Not all relationships on the Internet are a bad scenario. There have been many happy relationships forged from cyber dating, cyber friendships and cyber everything, but it is the purpose of this communications to let everyone who plays online know that the pitfalls are there. The snake-in-the-grass is waiting to spring on you and bring you down, so you must beware of what you say and do while going out to play.
Just one of my rants!
Claudia Lee
Whose voice I hear in the winds,
And whose breath gives life to all the world,
hear me! I am small and weak, I need your
strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice.
Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught my people.
Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.
I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy--myself.
Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes.
So when life fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame.

September Risin'
By Bitey
I can feel September risin' from the ashes of a windy summer mornin';
I can feel the chill of autumn in the haze of August's early
darkened skies;
In the rumble of the thunder I can hear the lost ones' angry,
soulful cries;
And I know September's risin' from the ashes where the season softly
lies.
It's September, filled with sorrow,
A September not forgotten,
It's an autumn filled with heavy-hearted dread.
Not today, and not tomorrow,
Will the agony begotten
Of the ashes of the countless lying dead
Be unavenged by those remembering
The fire of hate that turned the ashes red.
I can feel September risin' from the ashes of a season full of fury;
In the broken-hearted gazes in the eyes of countless wounded I see
pain;
As the dusty ashes swirl around the circle where the rose is softly
lain,
There's a promise that September's ashes soon will lie where
promises remain.
I can feel September risin' from the ashes of a hallowed autumn
mornin';
I can see the consecrated ground where innocence and happiness have
died.
They have taken down the towers, but no matter how their hatred may
have tried,
In September's early risin' they can never hope to take away our
pride.
In 1997 I created my first website. On it I had placed something called "Things of Interest" I had gotten these tidbits of interesting facts from books. Now I find these exact things I had placed on the site coming around the Internet via e-mails. I guess that says people are interested in such knowledge. So, here they are, back by popular demand. As an American I love my country, and yes, I believe in my government, but these 3 volumes are a must read!! You don't have to feel Anti-American to believe that some things are not an open policy in this country. It is not going against the grain of American freedom to feel that there is more to what we are being told about UFOs, cover-ups, and secret societies.
As a thinking American, you have the right to question the offered information...but are the cover-ups for our own collective good, or are they covering some high profile backsides with deceptions designed to keep the public in the dark?
Perhaps what we think we are seeing isn't what is truly going on.
We all must realize that in order to keep our country safe and protected there will be a certain amount of secrets kept by our government. We have to live with that to remain free, however are some of those secrets more than just military inventions? Could they be governmental contact with other lifeforms? Is Bob Lazar telling the truth about alien technology that has been developed and used by our government? If so, are the denials and cover-ups part of a program designed to keep our country safe and protect its citizens?
Read these 3 informative volumes written to enlighten and intrigue you...then you decide what is going on.
