Flicker: OK, here're my two pets. Pecky is a naughty budgie who reads the newspaper over your shoulder and climbs up the bars for a kiss. He squawks when you leave the room and used to imitate the phone before we had a new one. He makes silly buzzing noises to get attention and is really clever, the cleverest budgie we've had (and we've had a quite a few). He's dead daft and thinks he's a dog - he likes you to scratch his head, which birds are supposed to hate. He likes fuss, tickles, sweet packets, attention, kisses, new toys, putting toy bells on his head and jdb. He hates fruit, people ignoring him, rubbish music and Eastenders. The picture was taken when he was a baby, about 2 months old.
Jesse is an enormous fat chunky cat. She's really antisocial, hates sitting on peoples laps. But when she's fussy she's really loving. I reckon she's just like me and she'd be a sean fan if she could. She used to answer the phone when she was a kitten and jump on the table and slide off the other end til we got rid of it. She's really stupid though. My dad reckons that when she went for her operation, they took out her brain instead. She likes food, sleeping, catching mice and bringing them in, her catnip mouse, sean, Nicky Moose (I have a picture of her somewhere hugging him), looking out of the window and staring at the bush before we cut it down. The picture was taken when she was about 8 months old and normal.
Roddy is the little stray kitten that lives by our house. He's not ours so I don't have a photo of him. But I drew one.... anyway. Roddy's small and cute. He comes when you call him and likes eating scraps that I throw for him. He walks across all the fences, over the garage and up to my bedroom window. He won't be stroked, but he's getting better. He's named Roddy
because if he were a person he'd look like Roddy Woomble from Idlewild. He
has cute face and sniffs the air and goes 'mmmm' (this is the cat, not the
singer...) He's not really a kitten anymore, but he's still young.
Aoibheann: here's a pic of tiny. She's a shitzu (I always wonder if that's spelt right) Her hair was really long and my cousin eimear was going to plait her hair and put beads in it but tiny wouldn't stay still long enough. She's called tiny coz she was really really small when they got her. She's grown a bit now and her hair is short. She is funny when she plays football with me and padraic coz she always takes the ball and puts it in the bushes.
Felix is also in the pic. She's the white cat beside the bin. She ran away 2 years ago. She had kittens before that and my cousins only kept one. They called him oscar. He was adorable. He was all stripey ginger and white. Unfortunately he got ran over after felix left.
I found a pic of my cousins cat which died at the start of 1999. It was just called big cat. My cousins had lots of cats but he was around the longest. He had lived here for as long as I remember. He used to be really playful but he kinda slowed down coz he was getting old. The funniest thing I think of when I think of him is the time he chased my cousins dog jake around the garden. Jake was a big huge labrador and he was so scared of the cat.
Alienated: this is Georgie a few months ago, I've had her since 1989. We had a recent flea problem which meant she had to have a bath every week, and when I got rid of the fleas she'd catch them again from a cat she used to see. In the end she had to have flea drops. The cat is dead now and the fleas have gone. I had to spray cans of flea spray everywhere. She has her own chairs, this is one of them. You can see her doggy chew box in the picture, she has a new rug because the old one was full of fleas. She doesn't like this heat and as I type the fan is blowing on her, not me. When she's hot she has to be sprayed with water. You can see some doggy chews between her paws. She loves having a bath but gets too excited, and she's an old dog. She was upset when her own cat died but he used to pick on her rotten, he'd sit on the arm of the chair and look down on her sniffing the air. Then she'd just sit there shaking [if you can believe that] But they loved eachother really. I'm the one who has to cut the claws and I hate doing it, because she hates having it done. I think that's about it.
Lyns: Simon is my puddy tat he's 7 yrs old now and is a huge black and white thing, he likes nothing more than sleeping on my bed and eating. He's a very tolerate animal, lets my awful little brother put hats and scarves on him. He's intelligent because if we say "no dukes" to him he puts his claws away. He also likes to sunbathe out in the front garden and watching the birds but never bothers to catch any.
Posey and Psu are my guinea pigs; Posey is Psu's mum, Posey is the tortie and white pig and Psu is the agouti and white pig. Posey is 2 years old and Psu will be 2 in September so Posey was already pregnant when we got her but we didn't know till too late so at one point I had 3 guineas. I gave one baby to my sister. They like eating grass and hay and being let out in their run, fave veggies include broccoli cabbage and cauliflower they like most fruits too.
Now onto my rats. Plath is an old girl now I've had her 2 yrs also but she was about 1 when I got her, she is brown and white and very pretty to look at, she knows her name as well and comes running across her cage when you enter the room to say hello. She likes sitting on my shoulder and nuzzling my ear, the freedom of running around my room for exercise and chocolates, which she has for treats.
I've had Holly since xmas 2000, she was found on an allotment and we didn't think that she would last a week but she's been with me for 6 months. She's a black and white rat and when she came the very end of her tail was hanging off but with a little tlc the end came off and she made a marvelous recovery. I don't know how old she is I reckon about 3 so I don't hold her as much as Plath.
My 3 gerbils are aptly named Sean, Nicky and James. I've had Sean and Nicky for 2 years and I've had James just over a year. I re-homed Sean and Nicky in 1999 when a friend of my sisters was getting rid of her gerbils. Sean is the black gerbil with the white markings on his head, he enjoys being held although he is a wriggle bum, eating his fave treats of chocolate drops, gnawing through cardboard tubes and sleeping.
Nicky is the liddle fat puddin of the pair he has no white on him apart from a white beard and tache, he damaged his tail before I got him, so he's always had a bit of tail missing but it's barely noticeable. He enjoys the same things as Sean but likes to tunnel around the tank more. Sean and Nicky are brothers and live in a 4ft fish tank. 5 star accommodation for them.
James is the youngest of the three and I got him from a pet shop when I did work placement there in may 2000. In my opinion I rescued him from being fed to a snake or another gerbil eating reptile. He's a beautiful dove grey in colour and has ruby eyes, he knows his name and if you shout him his head pops up out of his bed to say hello. He's in a 1 ft tank but that's plenty of room for him to tunnel about, he spends the days sleeping and the nights awake but he soon wakes up if you shake the chocolate tub or shout his name!
Del and Boo are my sisters cats. Del is the one that is mostly ginger and Boo has the white on her chest. We originally thought they were boys till one day Joanne came home to find they'd had kittens under her bed.
Stella was found on a road when she was only 2 weeks old, her mother had abandoned her so Joanne had to hand rear her, she's a year old now and you wouldn't think she was hand reared.
