As M-Promotions are a fairly new promotional company we have not as yet arranged our own gigs but we have helped a lot of bands to build up their 'gigging' experience by passing on their material and details to gig venues throughout the country (UK)! When we do however build up our gig arranging activity/experience we will be using a cut of the profits to give to a good cause! The Month of Septembers charitable cause will be M Volunteers - More details on M Volunteers are provided below ...
Also when the zine is finally put into print it will be sold at the reasonable price of just £1 with 50p of each sale being sent directly to the 'Charity of the moment'!The first charity that will benefit from the sales of the zine will be the Millennium Volunteers of South Yorkshire!More information on MV can be found below ...
What is MV?
Millennium Volunteers are young people aged 16-24 who give up their free time to help their local communities. You might find them coaching a school football team, working at a community radio station or helping create a garden for local residents.
MV gives young people a chance to build on what they're into, to develop themselves and really help their community at the same time. And there are other rewards too: A 100 hour award signed by the minister for young people and learning and an award of excellence signed by the secretary of state for education and skills when they reach the 200 hour target!
Since it was launched in 1999, thousands of young people have joined MV and gained personally - increasing their confidence and getting the sense of satisfaction that comes from helping others and contributing to a community.
However the benefits go even further, as well as making a positive impact on their communities, MVs gain valuable skills things like teamworking, decision - making and communication. They learn practical things too, such as how to design a website or cook.
It doesn't end there. When a young person goes for a job, the skills learnt through volunteering really come into their own.Having MV on your CV is something that makes employers and college/university admissions tutors sit up and take notice.
MV has now developed into a national movement.Gaining an MV award of excellence is the ultimate accolade for young people who have given up their time for the benefit of others.
