Brief History: Dream Street began as over 200 guys auditioning
for a new group, just like O-Town, but even before Making
the Band was introduced to prime-time television. Even before
the big process of creating Dream Street began, five young
boys, who had been in the spotlight for many years, decided
to try to become part of a new band that was being formed.
These five were Matt Ballinger, Frankie Galasso, Jesse McCartney,
Greg Raposo, and Chris Trousdale.
Dream Street began when two very smart men
decided to create a new "boy band", much like N'sync
or the Backstreet Boys. They decided to find five hot guys
who could sing, dance, and act, and combine everything to
form a successful pop group. The men were Louis Baldonieri
and Brian Lukow, two men who have wished to become "pop
superstars."
Meanwhile, while they were thinking up how
to create this dream, the guys were still in school busy with
their numerous commercials, shows, appearances, and lessons.
Matt Ballinger (17) has appeared in shows
such as 'A Christmas Carol,' 'Inherit The Wind,' and 'The
King And I.' He has appeared in several commercials ranging
from Sudafed and Dannon Yogurt to AT&T. He has also done
voice-overs for songs on Nickelodeon's Blue's Clues. His birthday
is April 22, 1985.
Frankie Galasso (17) appeared in the children's
hit movie 'Jungle 2 Jungle' playing the character Andrew.
He appeared on 'As The World Turns' and has been in several
plays including 'Oliver,' 'An Inspector Calls,' and 'Bye Bye
Birdie.' He was born on January 24, 1985.
Jesse McCartney (15) was a regular on the
soap opera 'All My Children,' until recently, when his character
"Junior" was aged to about 18 years old. Jesse's
part was recast, and he is no longer acting on the show. He
has appeared in commercials for companies such as K-Mart and
Loew's, and has been in Broadway plays such as 'The King And
I' and 'A Christmas Carol.' He also sang on the kid's album
'Sugar Beats.' Jesse's birthday is April 9, 1987, making him
the youngest of the group.
Next comes Greg Raposo (17). Early on in his
career, Greg began performing shows in a group of Broadway
children, who performed many shows, called 'Broadway Kids.'
Greg has played guitar since the young age of 6, and could
do a very convincing Elvis impersonation when he was only
12. At the 20th anniversary of Elvis' death, he was the only
child invited to perform there. He has been in so many commercials
over his lifetime, including Ellio's Pizza, Olive Garden,
Crest, Tyco Toys, and Frosted Flakes. Greg was born on May
3, 1985.
Last but definitely not least, Chris Trousdale
(17). Chris was always a good candidate for Dream Street.
Ever since he could walk, he has been taking dance lessons
such as tap, ballet, and jazz, and also gymnastics. He also
has been to professional acting and voice classes. Chris was
a Broadway Kid along with Greg for many years. He has recorded
with Jewel on her 1999 release "Joy : A Holiday Collection"
and recorded a song with Ray Charles for the 2000 Summer Olympics.
Some of the commercials Chris has starred in are Hasbro, Johnson
& Johnson, Mattell, and Blockbuster Video. Greg and Chris
were together in the 1998 boy group 'Boy Wonder', which was
later called off.
When Louis and Brian set up an audition, over
200 guys showed up. After the first audition, the group was
cut down to 16. The second time, 8 of those boys were selected.
These 8 were kept together for several weeks to see which
guys harmonized the best, and then came the final cut where
only 5 of the boys were chosen - and that is the origin of
Dream Street!
