The Beauty of Political Simulations

Political simulations (sims) are both learning tools and tools of experimentation. They are online role playing games that give you the opportunity to:

  • debate issues,
  • analyze issues (if you are an elected official in the sim) and
  • build coalitions.

However, these sims also give you the opportunity to experiment with different existing political paradigms or entirely new paradigms. For example,

  • instant runoffs and proportional representation.
  • equal ballot access for third parties.
  • What if there were regional councils, for example, the North Atlantic States Council, the MidWest Council?

Political simulations offer a wealth of possibilities. They represent monarchies, democracies, parliamentary forms of governments, and combinations of these.

Sincerely,

Alan Cohen
