Punker Than Thou
Nothing gets my goat more than hardcore kids lookin down on others that don’t wear
the “cool” clothes or who don’t dance the “right way”. Let me tell you something:
the backbone of the punk/hardcore movement is being yourself, contrary to trends or
fashions. These superficial people who think that we should all dress the same and act
the same are the reason that the scene is becoming so diluted. Outsiders start looking at
punk/hardcore as a fad, and our beliefs and causes are viewed as mindless ramblings
spouted out to gain acceptance from our peers. That weakens our voice and we won’t be
taken seriously. This music, and the scene surrounding, is no fad. It’s a community of
people with strong minds who can make a difference in the world if we look beyond petty
things like the appearance of others. Let’s work together to make the CT scene grow!
