So, I've almost completed "revolutionary suicide" by huey p newton. It's sincerely one of the best autobiographies I've read...ever. It's touching, direct, and seemingly honest. Huey, well...the young Huey, was a man to look up to. He was educated and articulate in his thoughts and feelings about the black community. I can't say that there are none like him around in this day in time, because since I'm suck on this godforesaken rock I'm limited to my interaction with fellow black people, but from what is plastered on the media, it seems as though Huey's well developed revolution has completely gone to waste. Black Americans are still treated unequally economically, and are still somewhat "enslaved" by the exploitive measures of the media. Just look at a basketball team, for example. You have all of these brothers working hard, training, getting injured...so some white owner can sell his team as a comodity. They may not be getting beaten physically (like with whips and such) but their phyisically ablilites are definitely being taken advantage of. Granted they are paid beyond well so that the complaints will be little to none, but that's not good enough. I'll write more about this later.
