tHrOnE Balladry

Finally, one of my personal favorite bands has released a cd to top my best of '04 list! Balladry shows us a more grown up tHrOnE, and with age comes experiance. More sophistcated instrument handling dominates this darker disc, with keyboards and piano giving it a nice edge at times. True, access to better recording equipment in comparison to their prior releases, as well as production work by Zoux and Good Charlotte's Billy Martin, may have helped, but their relentless touring has allowed them to hone their skills a bit.

Their inspirations really shine through on this record, lyrically and musically. Many of their songs sound like long-lost unreleased Silverchair b-sides (musically), others reminicant of Art of Drowning era AFI (lyrically). Many of their songs seen to have a bitter edge to them. Bitter, but good. Definatly check this one out!
