My name is Maggie Plummer. I grew up in northeastern Ohio and currently live in upstate New York with my husband, Joel, where I am wrapping up a master's degree in medieval Art History.
From the time I read my first Sunfire Romance as a middle school kid, I have been hooked on historical fiction. I think I was attracted to Art History for the same reasons I enjoy this genre of books: I love to learn about history in a way makes the people who lived it seem touchable. Art allows us to witness, in a very tangible way, what the people of the past valued; what they held sacred, or what they found beautiful. And historical fiction, of course, allows us to get inside the heads of those who lived long ago; seeing what they saw, witnessing what they witnessed. Historical fiction is also, at the end of a long day, escapism at its best!
When I'm not writing, reading, or working on my master's thesis, I am hanging out with my husband (a busy Geography grad student), practicing Yoga, and trying to talk my landlord into letting me get a puppy (no luck yet, but I remain hopeful!)
