Carl Ennui

Carl Ennui is the Pen Name name of writer Charles Lange. I was born and raised in Central Arkansas, so leaving the rolling mountains of beautiful forests was hard, but it wasn't my choice. In Central Texas I graduated from Bastrop High School in 2002, where I was Editor of the School Newspaper. I also excelled in English Literature and Advanced Art, which were my favorite subjects

After high school I worked a number of quote "real" jobs, including two fast food places, a convenience store, and a greenhouse. I came to a conclusion real quickly that these were not the kinds of things I wanted to be doing. It has nothing to do with the fact that I am not planning on getting any more traditional education. People ask me all the time, "Well why not?" And my answer is always the same. "I think school is stupid, you can get along just fine without a college degree."

The thing is, I know how important it is in today's society that you waste four years in school. Employers are only looking for dedication. Does the applicant have dedication and desire, are they worth hiring and training costs. Can they spend four years doing something they hate, so they can be able to do something they like. The problem with this is that I completely without a doubt, hate school. I hate having to sit in a class with a whole bunch of other people to learn something when I can teach myself the same thing at home on the internet or by going to the library.

My interest in writing actually started in a Library because that is, of course, where books are. I noticed how there are thousands of books and each of them have most likely been read. Not once, or twice, but all the time. I started reading all the time and I started writing too. It grew on me and before I knew it I had completed a rough draft of an entire book. My senior year in high school was spent mostly in Creative Writing where I learned more about character development and story plotting. From novellas I went on to novel projects and screenplay ideas. Ankou was my first screenplay, followed by Lyland.
