This web site will give fans the opportunity to give their views, look at the match preview for the week as well as the review of the past game. It will have the news as it happens and will offer links to other sites with news on the Fremantle Dockers. As this is an UNOFFICIAL page, it will contain views and opinions that will not reflect those of the club unless otherwise stated. Click here to see the latest fans comments. LATEST NEWS: 5th September Troy Cook and Troy Longmuir have made way for Shane Parker and Trent Croad for today's blockbuster clash with the Bombers. I wouldn't be surprised to see Farmer not getting up for the game and having Longmuir come in for him. Farmer could not be at 100% and you can't afford to go in with players in finals who are not 100%. Port learnt that lesson last year. There are some extra tickets available to the public today and there will be around 1500 available so get in quick if you want to go. 4th September Jeff Farmer completed a short 25 minute training session today which means he should be right for selection tomorrow night. Fremantle will be confident going into the game and will be looking forward to playing in front of a full house for the second week in a row. Kevin Sheedy has said he is willing to lose $15,000 in order to keep the selection of his team obscure. The AFL will charge the Bombers $3,000 for each late change and Sheedy is willing to swap up to 5 players late in order to keep Fremantle guessing. Sounds like grasping at straws to me. 1st September Fremantle will have a later training session tomorrow night and will start people's training at 6.30pm and they are expecting 5 to 6 thousand fans down there. 30th August After having my computer finally fixed, I can report that Fremantle will play the Bombers in the finals next week on Saturday night at Subiaco which will be great given their lack of pace across the ground. There are no easy games in finals but this would be Fremantle's preferred match-up. They will have to do without Troy Cook who has fractured his ankle but Farmer and Pavlich will be right to play. It was a terrific game last night and Fremantle showed that they are the real deal when put under intense pressure last night but Connolly will need to work on getting the ball out from defense against a huddle. The write-up will be on tomorrow. 21st August Des Headland will not travel with the side to Melbourne today due to the flu virus that he has. He will be isolated from the side and travel over tomorrow to be with the side but he will be right to play and will look forward to giving the Bombers another hiding as he loves playing against them. 20th August Don't expect too many changes to the Fremantle side this week with Troy Simmonds the most doubtful with his ankle and with the game-style of the Bombers I wouldn't be surprised to see Simmonds given the week off for the derby coming up. 16th August Fremantle are very happy with the re-signing of three of its key youngsters in Dion Woods, Roger Hayden and Aaron Sandilands. Paul Medhurst will be the next Docker that will be sorting out his contract. Don't expect any changes tomorrow to the Fremantle side despite the fact that Webster trained with the side today. 14th August The club is starting to sit down with its out-of-contract players in order to secure them for the long term and the club would have to be confident that they would like to stay. With the likes of Haddrill, Woods, Hayden and Medhurst coming out of contract they will be working hard to keep them at the club for the long term. Medhurst did reject the first offer given to him but the club is confident a compromise will be found and the side can look forward to spending the next few years together. 10th August Sensational win by the boys today against a gallant and determined Fremantle side. Many times this year we say that Fremantle have come of age as a side but today's win was more evidence of this than any other. 4 goals down in the 3rd quarter on the road and to fight back and win just shows how well the side is progressing and there should be a bumper crowd next week for the last home game against the Bulldogs and a top 4 spot is still there for the taking. It will still be a major concern for the club in regards to getting belted out of the middle but that is for a mid-week discussion. Today is one to savour and enjoy. 7th August With Clive Waterhouse out for the rest of the season with OP, it will be vital that the forwards we have stand up in the next month. Don't expect too many changes to the side this week with 3 inclusions likely tonight but there will be unlikely to be any changes to the final side alhtough Koops will be trying hard to push for selection. The Roos are likely to drop Rocca and Clayton to make way for Harris and Morrell who will give them a stronger presence up forward and Harris will add a hard edge to the Roos and has been impressive this year. It will look like an old derby this week with the red and whites vs the blue and whites and let's hope that the mighty red and whites prevail again. 2nd August Congratulations to Fremantle in having their best season ever by winning their 11th game today against the Tigers. The side worked hard but their skills were woeful and to quote the Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons "Worst Game Ever" as a spectacle but the result was good. Steven Koops was substituted for Troy Longmuir who played well and I can tell you there is more to Troy Simmonds injury than the club is letting on and I for one am worried. You will notice that he won't take any centre bounces but will take the hit-outs around the ground where he doesn't have to jump. For that reason, even Croad spent some time in the ruck today. It was also interesting to see that Malthouse today said that good sides win when they have flat spots and Fremantle showed that today with a win which will help lead them to next week's crunch game against the Roos who were belted tonight against the Lions in Brisbane. My new email is gavi12@hotmail.com if you have any feedback. 1st August Fremantle has dropped Troy Longmuir and Luke Webster for this week's clash in favour of Aaron Sandilands in the ruck and Steven Koops whose ability to play forward and back and his closing speed got him over the line against the unlucky Webster. Fremantle has also decided to make travel another factor for the side with a game against the Pies in London later this year. It could be a sign of things to come though as Fremantle start to gain the respect throughout the football world by being used as a showcase on the world stage. (either that or no-one else wanted to) 31st July Fremantle will be preparing for its biggest game of the year (don't we say that every week), but we just need to win every game at home. With a full list there is no excuses and with a big crowd expected for the Purple Haze Freo fans need to get their in force this week to ensure a home win. After playing the top 4 sides in the past month (and coming out 2-2) we have a relatively easier path now till the end of the season but 3 wins are required to guarantee a berth. Let's look forward to the first one this week. Let's hope that we see a big crowd turn out to support the kids for the Starlight Foundation and thanks have to go to the Phillips/Fox for their support of the game this weekend and it will be different with the old red and white jumpers this weekend. Like watching Souths of old. 29th July With the purple haze game coming up this week and Fremantle wearing their old Red and White jumpers expect to see a different look this week at the game and also expect to see Crazy Clive come back into the side for his 100th game. Sandilands will also come back into the side as well while Koops may have another week at West Perth. 27th July Fremantle went down today to the Swans by a narrow margin after leading by 14 points in the last quarter. Fremantle had the chance to finalise its spot in the finals with a win but alas the confirmation is a few weeks away yet with the game against the Kangaroos looming as the mini-final. 25th July There is talk that Luke Webster may be a suprise inclusion into the side for the Swans game on the weekend while Longmuir will also be pressing for selection. 24th July No surprises at selection with Trent Croad and Troy Longmuir coming back into the squad along with Luke Webster and Ben Cunningham while Antoni Grover is the only omission at this stage with a broken hand. The handy Ryan O'Keefe is out with a calf injury while there are still doubts over Maxfield with his knee, thus Ablett has been bought into the squad. There is a whisper that Rod Eddington is one of the candidates for the CEO job as well which would be interesting. 21st July After being away for a week on holidays and nice and relaxed what a way to build the stress levels back up yesterday after watching Fremantle beat the Crows by 1 point. After their arrogance all week about how easy it would be by some of their players it was nice to come out and knock them off by the smallest of margins and go a long way towards sealing a first finals appearance. With players such as Croad and Waterhouse sitting on the sidelines places are at a premium but Croad will be back this week, that much is true after a powerhouse display for Claremont on the weekend. My email has been stuffed so I apologise for those who have written and been given no reply. I am trying to fix it as we speak and thus I had no chance to put on the match preview for last week. 14th July Fremantle continued its "learning" away from home with a 41 point loss to the Pies on the weekend. To put it simply, there were way too many passengers on a day where everyone had to contribute for the Pies to get across the line. Match Review up later today. 10th July Congratulations to Sandilands who has won the award for this year's rising star. After being away for a few days it is good to be back and watch Freo destroy the Pies this weekend. So surprises at selection with Croad, Webster and Thornton making way. Croad hasn't done enough to keep his spot and will get a chance to work his way back. It is a good position for the club to be in and wouldn't be surprised to see Pav play more up forward this week. No surprises in the Pies side with Clement out and Shaw back in. This will hurt the Pies structure and whilst Shaw has pace he lacks the penetration that Clement does. 7th July Fremantle will be playing in the colours of the mighty Bulldogs on the heritage weekend coming up in Round 19 as part of the AFL celebration. The jumper will be in the old hoops style similar to Geelong's older jumper. The charge against ruckman Charman has been withdrawn after the weekend. Dion Woods returned to training today and was given a fitness test to see where he is at but he should be fine to return this weekend, in body anyway. 5th July Terrific win by the boys today and kept their
season going along nicely. Despite not playing anywhere near their best
they worked hard all day and Schammer and Cook were the catalysts for a
great win. The match review will be up tomorrow and the side will look
forward to the return of Simmonds, Carr and Woods. . Freo has this
season won more possession than all but two rivals, but over the past
five weeks has slipped back to seventh. During the same period, the
Dockers' ranking for inside 50s per goal has slipped from three to nine,
and in terms of disposals per goal, from sixth to 11th. 3rd July Fremantle will not appeal the suspension of Troy Simmonds for strking and will go into the match with Longmuir playing the back-up ruck position which may help the forward line structure. Luke Webster has been promoted off the rookie list for some excellent form this season and will make his debut this week against the Lions. The club has also stated that it is under the salary cap by $250,000 and will be looking for another addition to the midfield this year in the trading periods so we shall wait and see what happens there but with the new player agreement that will limit Fremantle's options with players such as Joel Corey off the list after agreeing to a new contract this year which means he can't be traded. In other news, Alistair Lynch will not play for the Lions this week due to CFS problems while Chris Johnson will also miss with a hamstring injury. Blake Caracella will also miss with injury while Chris Scott may return along with Darryl White. Disappointing to see the AFL take the draw to a farcical level even further with the proposal by Collingwood seemed set for approval where they will stay for 18 games in Melbourne and travel only to Adelaide and Perth once. It is a joke. 1st July Congratulations to Byron Schammer who received the Rising Star Award this week for his efforts against the Hawks although I thought that Sandilands may have got the nod ahead of him. Troy Simmonds goes up before the tribunal tonight on a striking charge and it is difficult to say what will happen given the tribunal's efforts over the past few years. 26th June Deepest sympathy to Dion Woods and his family at this time. Whilst I would love to see him play this weekend some things are more important. Will look forward to seeing you back as soon as possible. 24th June Fremantle have come off the break with all of its listed players in a position to play this weekend against the Hawks except for Carr who is still out suspended. The Hawks will be missing Everitt with a hamstring and Campbell Brown will also be out for the next few weeks along with Ladson. The weather is expected to be cold in Tassie on Sunday with an expected temperature of 12 degrees and a shower or two expected. 18th June Matthew Carr copped a 2 match suspension last night in only what can be described as another black night for the tribunal who continue to show glaring inconsistencies in decisions. McKay got let off last week for a very similar decision while Carr cops 2. It even occurred with the Chad Cornes/Sam Mitchell incident. Meanwhile, the WAFC is considering an offer from Crazy John's for the naming rights to Subiaco. It has been claimed that Ric Hart has also been in contact with Crazy Johns and may look to take them on as a major sponsor. With AlintaGas reviewing their sponsorship deals, Crazy John may take over the reins if the WAFC deal falls through. 15th June Fremantle survived a physical clash with the Cats last night and emerged with a hard fought 16 point win in a game which had finals pressure at times throughout the game. Fremantle had a steady contribution across the board while the Cats needed someone other than Kingsley to step up to the plate. The sour notes from the night were the reports of Carr (who should get off considering the similar cases we have seen this year) and the hamstring injury to McPharlin who looked pretty good early in the match. The umpiring was discussed pretty heavily and it was pretty average for both sides last night. 12th June There will be some definite changes this week with the Fremantle side as Sandilands and McPharlin will definitely come back in for the injured Headland and Seigert while I would not be surprised to see Longmuir given a chance this week. Clive will be edgy this week about his 100th game and even more so with his lack of form. He can only be carried for so long and may get a run in the WAFL this week to get a full game behind him. 10th June Pleasing to see Luke Webster get promoted off the rookie list after suffering a terrible run of injuries. There was one injury concern from the weekend so there should be some spirited training this week to get a run in the side, especially with the form of players like Troy Longmuir in the WAFL as well. Des Headland will be out for the next couple of weeks with inflamed tissue in the ankle and will be operated on this week. Who will get their chance? 9th June Fremantle went down to the Power by 49 points today in a reality check against one of the top sides in the competition. Whilst a loss was not totally unexpected there were many aspects of Fremantle's play which will concern the coaching staff and a repeat next week will result in a loss to Fremantle against the Cats. 1st June Fremantle will be watching the derby with interest at Fremantle Oval tomorrow with Luke McPharlin ready to make his comeback to league footy. Fremantle had a few players pick up knocks yesterday but most should be right for next week's showdown with Port Adelaide who are third and the added spice from the preseason match should make this a game to certainly watch and it will certainly give us an idea of where Fremantle are at in terms of the end of year calculations. 31st May Fremantle recorded its fifth straight win and entrenched itself in the top 4 of the AFL with a scrappy 29 point win over the Blues. In a game that won't go in the annuls of AFL history, there were a few highlights including Medhurst's 7 goal haul and a bit of sensational play from Polak in the last few minutes. The Match Review will be up tomorrow. 29th May Dion Woods has spent the night in hospital with an infected foot but will be right to play this week for Fremantle. He has been a super-important player for us (using a little CC cliche) and his rebounding has been an important factor in Fremantle's playing style this year. 27th May Fremantle have received good and bad news today with Jeff Farmer ruled out for a month but on the upside Graham Polak received a nomination for the Rising Star award. Shaun McManus copped a $1200 early plea fine for wrestling. I can't believe that Neitz was let off for the crude attempt to spoil on Hasleby. Clubs will be using that vision prior to the end of the season to get players off, mark my words. The comments page is finally up and going again and look forward to your comments. 24th May Fremantle racked up its fourth win in a row today and its second consecutive road win and now moves into the top 4 and may well stay there unless Sydney have a good win tomorrow. Stay tuned for the match review. Luke McPharlin got through his game today for East Fremantle and the club will look forward to seeing him press for selection. It is great seeing pressure for spots now on. 22nd May David Neitz was in hospital last night with an abcess on his foot but he will be right to play this weekend. Fremantle will be training at Memorial Oval which is Scotch College's home ground for training this week as its dimensions are very similar to that of the MCG. There will be no changes to the Fremantle side unless Headland doesn't recover from his virus. 20th May Apologies for the late match review. The word out of Melbourne is that Jeff White will not be risked this week. The Demons were pretty happy with the work rate of Jolly and Jamar and he will not come back for another week. Expect it to be another wet and windy day at the G this week with a top of 16 expected and rain again. Could this be a case of dejavu?? Let's hope not. 18th May Fremantle notched up its third consecutive win today for the first time in its history and once again had an injury free game which was great. They are now sitting 6th the ladder, just out of the top 4 and will go into next week's game against the Demons full of confidence. 17th May Nice touch by Hasleby donating his settlement to the Children's hospital. The Saints trained at Subiaco Oval today and looked pretty handy but better sides have come across and lost and I expect that to continue tomorrow. You have to start being concerned about McPharlin's injury and the game he played in the Reserves showed him walk off more with a groin injury than a hamstring and let's hope the dreaded OP haven't come back, especially considering that he is still growing. 15th May The match preview is up and it should be either an absolute beauty this week or Fremantle will come out firing and the Saints will struggle like their last trip here. Fremantle have been very good in the first quarter the last 2 weeks and if they can come out and fire up then Fremantle will give themselves every chance to rack up an historic 3rd win in a row. 14th May There are many people talking about Fremantle and the Saints as the game of the round but that has to go to the Crows and the Lions but the extra publicity can only be good for the club. Interesting to see that Richard Branson has been invited by the club to toss the coin on the weekend and if they can get Virgin to sponsor the Dockers all the better, especially if AlintaGas decide to not renew their sponsorship. 12th May The boys will be recovering from their match yesterday and there should be a big crowd at training tomorrow night for People's night. In further news on the upcoming game against the Saints there is talk that Goddard will not play against Fremantle this week as he has a deal with Caufield Grammar where he has to play a certain amount of games with the school. This week they are playing Xavier, one of the top schools in Melbourne and will be required to play. Not too sure how much fact there is in this but you would think he would have to play some footy for the school considering he would be on a scholarship there. He has been outstanding for the Saints and I am sure Freo won't be disappointed if he doesn't make the trip. Gehrig is also under an injury cloud with a foot tendon injury and played under pain killers last week and the big Subiaco ground may cause him to re-think teh journey. 11th May Terrific win by the boys today and will take every confidence into the match next week against the Saints. The only injury concern was that of Des Headland but he should be fine for next week. 9th May Fremantle have received a boost when Steven Kretiuk broke down at training and won't be playing this week. His hardness at the ball would worry Fremantle and there is still very strong doubts about Croft's knee and I can't see him playing this week. Shane Parker is in doubt for Fremantle and Byron Schammer may take his place and add some speed to Fremantle's midfield. 5th May There are ongoing negotiations with Trent Croad's management over his contract and how much he will paid in terms of yearly payments. Croad began talks at the end of last year as Fremantle aim to keep their payments down and with players such as Medhurst coming out at the end of the year it may give Fremantle more breathing space in negotiations. Steven Icke and Paul Connors will continue to meet to finalise details. Luke McPharlin will make his comeback this weekend via East Fremantle and will be looking to play one or two games before pressing for selection. Graham Polak rolled his ankle in the last quarter but should be right to play this weekend. Luke Darcy is also facing the tribunal for making contact with an umpire and would be concerned about getting off given the tribunal's record this year. 4th May Terrific win by Fremantle today with 31 point win despite the fact that they stopped running in the last quarter. No injuries was also pleasing and sets up a good platform for next week's crunch game against the Bulldogs. 2nd May Sorry I have been away for a few days and have been unable to update the page but will have the preview up later today. In selection news, Sandilands has been bought into the side to replace Daniel Haines who hasn't been anywhere near his best lately and seems to have picked up the skill jitters. 23rd April Fremantle have been fined $40,000 for failure to hand in 4 contracts on time. This sort of practice is just not good enough for a professional club. To make matters worse this is not the first time that this has happened and Fremantle can't afford to be paying out $40,000 for no reason. With the expected fine over the Francis saga still to come Fremantle will have thrown money away for simple accounting practice. 20th April Great win by Fremantle today and although there were some areas that need to be looked at it was a great win and a great way to celebrate Parker's 150th. Terrific comeback by Clive, Parker and Koops and there will be the match review on tomorrow. Also good to see some new club records set. Let's hope we see Fremantle break some more next week by winning their first derby of the season in the first showdown and also win 3 games on the trot. Still makes you wonder what happens when they cross the nullabor. 18th April If Shane Parker does play this week congratulations on his 150th. He has been a club stalwart and only Dale Kickett would be come close to Parker and his achievements. His dependability and continued efforts week in and week out are a credit to him and a lot of other players at Fremantle could learn from him. 17th April Speculation is floating about that DJ Headland does have a broken bone in his foot which is affecting his running capacity and thus the decision to play him down forward. It is only speculation but where there is smoke there can be fire. Fremantle will find out next week what the wash-up of the Fabian Francis affair will be but it will result in at least a fine. The crucial aspect will be in regards to the draft picks. If Fremantle do lose the picks, then I wouldn't be surprised to see it go further regardless of the cost. The preview is up for this week but squads will go in later as they are not yet named. Let's hope that all the fans get behind the side this week and get to the game for the traditional ANZAC clash and the tribute to the indengious soldiers who fought in the war. As bad as last week was we need to see all Fremantle supporters at the game to keep the club moving forward. 14th April Connolly took the words out of most supporters mouths yesterday labelling the display as awful. There was no way to sugarcoat a performance such as that and the only blessing was that there were no injuries through the game although Polak was a late withdrawl. Hopefully, we will see the real Fremantle come out this week in a crunch game against the unbeaten Roos. Fremantle have suffered a further blow with Steven Koops suffering a knee injury on the weekend in the match for West Perth. The extent of the injury is still to be determined. 12th April As expected, Richardson will be ruled out of the game tommorrow after undergoing facial surgery during the week. With the expected cloudy and stormy weather it may not be as bad for the Tigers as first thought but they will need to get someone who can bring the ball down. Fremantle will go into the game minus Jones, Seigert and Browne who has been given the week off after his poor kicking for goal. Troy Longmuir will need to do well this week if he wants to keep playing this year. In other news, one of the worst kept secrets was made official with Rove McManus being named the Number 1 ticket holder this week and we should see plenty of extra plugs on Channel 10 this season. 10th April The Match Preview is up for this week's game against the Tigers and the team lists will be up later in the day. Who will make way for Croad, read the Match Preview for my thoughts. There is also some doubt about whether Medhurst will play this week after pulling up sore from sprint training yesterday but he will be named and all indications are that he will play. 9th April Fremantle have now been granted limited access to the MCG and will be able to train there in the lead-up to the game this week. Meanwhile, Fremantle have come out in support of Clive who had a storm in a teacup incident playing for the Tigers on the weekend. Details on the Fabian Francis saga should be out in the next few days and there could be a lot more to come from it. 8th April I have finally got the site back on the air but not as I would like it. Once again we have seen the AFL react at the hypercritical best with the Dockers unable to train at the MCG. In the day of professional sport, how the Dockers are unable to train at the game is a disgrace. All of the old features are still on my old site and the Your Say section will still work on the button on the left. But the new Match reviews will be up as I am able to do it. I will be bringing the news to you as it happens. (or as my schedule allows) 7th April Great news for Fremantle with the news that their nemesis Matthew Richardson is out with a fractured cheekbone. Whilst you don't want to see anyone out with an injury, it could give Fremantle a boost going into the game with Richmond struggling for talls with Holland, Ottens and Richo out. Still you have to beat the side out there and in many cases it is Fremantle beating itself before the game starts, rather than the opposition. Download the new screensaver with all the new players and even more action pics. With the season just around the corner, it is time to look into the crystal ball and see how Fremantle will go in out Round by Round description. Have a look at our pre-preview for the new season 2002. Look and say what you think about the new editorial "WHAT, IF ANY IS THE CULTURE OF THE FREMANTLE FOOTBALL CLUB?" Each year debate rages about how clubs draft and who they trade for. Now you can see every trade and selection Freo have made and who they have lost and gained. Look here at Freo's draft history. Injury Update:
I have finally installed the new Dockers screensaver with images taken from this season including that memorable victory against the SCUM, Mods 150th and Koops screamer amongst others.
