Comings and Goings: There comes a time when we all have to leave the nurturing warmth of the nest. In doing so we experience a loss while another experiences a gain. We here at the JKRC are experiencing the loss of staff nurses Joan Burke & Dorothy Purnell, as well as longtime JKRC secretary Rhonda Morris. While all three have gone to begin the next phase; JKRC welcomes new head nurse Christine Ratajczak with open arms.
Back to School: On June 24th, 2005, the JKRC was honored by theRoosevelt Elementary School in New Brunswick. The award is the culmination of the JKRC’s effort to become a larger part of the New Brunswick community. The JKRC published a book of the students’ poetry. Principal Hector Ramon Villafane and coordinator Janet C. Obzut were elated at the end product, stating: “This is a wonderful, wonderful product and is a great example of good neighbors making good neighborhoods.”
Telesensory: When Stan Messmer arrived at his job on Monday morning, March 14th, 2005, he was greeted by a security guard who instructed him and his 60-plus co workers that the “game was over.” The “game” was Telesensory, which for 35 years was a giant in the assistive technology industry. With Telesensory shutting down virtually overnight and defaulting on obligations to workers and customers, many are left wondering “Why?”
