Poor Services By Indian ISPs. Cyber Café Outta Touch with Technology

Poor services by the local ISPs, so much so that it breakdown so effin' often that they shud provide a toll free number 4 complaints :), One direct cable net says as logging out msg "you 'was' using blah blah"... there r signage with loads of error aswell... both in Devnaagri & English... Cyber café or Internet parlours outta clue... formatting the PCs every 2nd day or 2nd week, even grosser fly by night @ this enterprise... and rude and arrogant @ that... :) [shrug] what a friggin' bhaiNs da tabela... almost 60 yrs of independence and half the people illiterate... and talking of digital-divide wud be oxymoron... but then they call it mixing Bhaarat with India...

GVFSUP is probably only the one in the whole GlobalVillage, which has animation but within the size parameters on the maximum... 33X144... wonder if rss tech owner Harvard Law do not approve of it? or vice-versa.

Bajrangii parivaar wanna do relief work only in the Hindu majority villages in quake struck Kaasmiir, suggesting that they don't deserve 2 rule the lands.

Amartya Sen da talked of famines & democracies... the way Aache Aceh & Kashmir kaashmiir suffered wonder if he establishes some relationship between disasters & separatist struggles...

Not just that but it was broadcast or citycast or narrowcast whatever LIVE!?!... and about 4.30 the Moslems used loudspeakers la Ramazaan... blew sirens 5.40 AM etc., innocent hoi polloi or blatant disregard 4 the supreme koraT... and shudn't SC is PLed about the driving licenses renewal & Reevaluated with new standards and regulation... and honestly this time round... will generate employment 4 millions... the trainers and educators of driving... this wud save 100s of thousands lives...

But Indian Express is on big way on this new syndicating... many other publications 2b checked online... write 2 them, urging them 2 join the bandwagon... poor Kashmir/ kaashmiir quake relief effort... lack of coordination, lack of resources... even mass-media so friggin' slow... unconnected 2 the distant unapproachable places on a Hilly terrain... AfgHaan donated a million dollars 2 the USA post Katrina, wonder how much they gave 2 the Kaashmiiris... 06:21 AM 10/11/2005 :: So only 11% of all Internet users read blogs [erlier term 4 weblogger was Linkalist as in Journalist] according to Pew Internet and American Life study. If you think that means blogs wield little influence, you need to break those numbers down. Among that 11% are are a lot of journalists, 51% according to an annual study of media’s use of the Net. And 28% rely on blogs for their day-to-day reporting.

It’s no great stretch to conclude that blogs are influencing the content that gets into the mainstream media.

The Survey of Media has been going on for some time; I [Shel Holtz] cited it in the first edition of my book, “Public Relations on the Net,” which was published in 1999, and it already had five years’ worth of data at that point. Columbia University’s Dr. Steven Ross has been with the study since it started, partnering with Don Middleberg of New York’s Middleberg Public Relations. According to Ross—who is also a partner in Euro RSCG Magnet (which acquired Middleberg):

"As blogs continue to gain in popularity, quality and influence, it is becoming imperative that journalists and journalism students continue to integrate blogs, especially blogs that cover technology, into their reporting practices. A number of credible and influential Weblogs - such as Scobleizer, Gizmodo, and Boing Boing“- provide an invaluable trove of research, story ideas, and other information that current and future journalists would be remiss not to leverage in their reporting."
