This Spud's for You!

The Game
The current PBM game is titled Kings & Generals. It is a strategic style game where players first learn necessary skills and acclimate to the rules variants, and then begin to play against both each other and the game facilitator (me for now). The game is based loosely upon D&DII players option rules and characters can either be pre-generated for simplicity and ease of integration or custom created with the help of the facilitator.

On this site you will find all necessary text and graphical data to play this particular game… more may become available with further development and interest in this system.

The Setting
This game takes place mainly upon the world of Arterran, focusing primarily on the continent of  South Erollion. This continent is a huge land containing almost all terrain types and is predominantly human settled. Demi-human races are present in much smaller numbers but can reasonably be found in minority status in any major city. The setting is early industrial revolution, and as such certain technologies exist that are not present in a standard fantasy campaign. The steam engine is available (invented by gnomes) and solves the problem of affordable cross continental travel (pioneered by humans). Gunpowder and cannons are also available in limited quantities. Such weapons are a human introduction though the supporting technologies do not yet exist; each gun must be hand crafted and is therefore not easy to repair in the field or supply generic ammunition for. Handheld versions of these weapons are being experimented with but are not as effective or economically viable as standard weapons of a D&D game. Incidentally, historical evidence suggests that cannon and mortar have been employed much earlier than the Renaissance period… the production methods being the primary limiting factor.

Data Files
To the left you will find links to the data files that you will need to begin play… You should download the Focus Map, and Character Info. If you would like, the entire continent map is also available, as is a narrative history line of Arterra.
