Letter from the Editors:
Hilary Duff. Lindsey Lohan. Jojo. Barbie. Paris Hilton. Britney Spears. Bratz. Clueless. Mean girls. Kirsten Dunst.
We see those girls in magazines and on TV all the time. Our society has created its image of teenage girls from these wonderful role models. Adults pander to this stereotype, and, in the case of advertisements, encourage it. Constantly we read articles about dealing with your wild, promiscuous daughter and how to patronize - I mean parent - teenage girls.
To be honest, this pisses us off. The majority of teenage girls are not clones! We are not all druggies with constantly uncrossed legs, thankyouverymuch. We don't follow celebrities, succumb to trends, or believe in ad campaigns.
We are not what you think. Philosophy, literature, science, technology, art: we are interested in everything and more.
Here we capture our thoughts, not only as an example of young feminists, but also as a way to express new ideas, different perspectives, and to show the breath of teenage minds.
(Note: This issue took us, the editors, over 5 hours to figure out how to write, compile, and print. Your appreciation will be accepted in small, unmarked chocolate bars. Thank you.)
