Hello and welcome to "Dragonstar Magazine & E-zine" - a project dedicated to the advancement of amateur fantasy and science fiction writers. The staff rotates the stories on the site every month and there is a contest every so often to get those competitive juices flowing. We hope you enjoy our selections and that you will come back to view us again soon.

Since the first, true, science fiction tale - Mary Shelley's "Frankenstein or The Modern-day Prometheus" - there has been a following of the genre that has spawned some of the greatest pieces of literature and, more recently, some of the most memorable films of the 20th century. The genre means many things to many people, but at the heart of it all is the fascination with science and what it can do in our world or any world in the future.

Since it's humble - though not formally recognized - beginnings with the man who many call a grandfather - of sorts - J.R.R. Tolkien, there has been much debate and arguing over whether the genre is a recognizable area of modern literature. There are many that contest that it is as valid as any; others contest that it is completely the opposite. In the end, however, it is all a matter of the reader's ability to "suspend the disbelief" - as H.G. Wells said - and simply enjoy the story.
