Bio:
The band consists of Kris Roe, Johnny Collura, Chris Knapp, and Mike Davenport. The group was discovered in 1997 when Kris Roe passed along his demo tape to Joe Escalante, bassist for the Vandals and owner of Kung Fu Records. Moving from Indiana, to California, Roe assembled The Ataris' line-up and recorded the group's first full-length offering, Anywhere But Here, for Kung Fu. They then recorded an EP, Look Forward To Failure (1998), as well as the additional Kung Fu albums: Blue Skies, Broken Hearts...Next 12 Exits (1999) and End Is Forever (2001), each of which has sold more than 100,000 copies in the U.S. Hits include In This Diary and Teenage Riot.
My Opinion:
Any band that makes a re-make of the Willy Wonka song has to be good, it's one of those unwritten rules. My personal favourites are 'My So Called Life' and 'The Hero Dies In This One'. This is a great band. What I mean is we should all jump up and down waving sparklers yelling "Yeah for The Ataris!"
