Chapter 7

* Monday morning during class *

"All right. I want everyone to finish reading 'MacBeth' by tonight. Answer all 20 questions on the 3 worksheets I handed out yesterday. I want everything due tomorrow. First thing you walk into class."

English 4 AP teacher, Mr. Garrison grinned slightly, as the students groaned. "You have the rest of the period to begin. Get to work."

"Psst. Justin."

Justin looked up from his work and over at Jake. "What is it Siler?"

"Yo, what was up with Shannon Friday night? We thought ya'lls were broken up?"

"We are man. She just probably got jealous because I was dancing with Jessica."

"Ah." Jake said, nodding his head. "She was looking fine that night. Dam dawg! I'd hit that in a second."

"Shut the fuck up Siler?" Justin hissed quietly.

Jake's smile left his face. "Hey man, why are you getting all bent out of shape?" He said, as he looked at him curiously. "I was just joking."

Justin sighed heavily, as he closed his eyes. "I'm sorry." He said quietly. "It's just that. I hate it when people talk so much shit about her... She's not a sex object. She's a human being."

"You're falling for her aren't you J?"

"No." He said quietly. "I hope not." He whispered, as he continued working.

* After school *

Jessica took a deep breath as she made her way out of the school. Her new look seem to be catching everyone off guard. Her hair was cut into layers and curled at the ends. Her glasses were replaced with the contacts she never used to wear. Her face was covered with light make-up. A light colored eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, alittle bit of blush, and a light colored lip gloss. The only thing that hadn't change was her style of dressing.

A red Mercedes pulled up against the curb, right next to her.

"What do you want Timberlake? Jessica asked, as she stopped walking.

"Would you like a ride?" He asked quietly.

"Don't you think your girlfriend will get upset?"

Justin sighed deeply, as he stepped out of the car. "We need to talk about that... I have to explain some things to you."

"You don't need to explain anything to me. Friday proved that you two were still together."

"Jessica please." He reached for her hand, as he held it gently within his. "It's... It's not like that... Please, just come to my place." Before she could protest, he gently ushered her into his car, turned on the ignition and took off.

* At Justin's house *

"Look Justin, there's nothing going on between us. I don't need to hear your explanations."

"I know there's nothing going on between us. But Jessica, I do want to be your friend. Why is that so hard to believe?"

Jessica sighed, as she sunk deeper into the comfortable couch. "No body wants to be my friend. I'm nothing. Nobody cares about me. I hate the way I am. I hate relationships and I hate love."

Justin looked at her wide eyed for a minute or two. He opened his mouth to say speak, but quickly shut it as Jessica started speaking again.

"I never used to be this way... When I was younger, everything seemed so perfect. I loved everything I had. My parents, whom I still love. The greatest friends. Everything was great ya know. I even considered you my best friend." She admitted softly. "But everything changed once I entered high school... It was around the 4th of July. I had just turned 14... And we still had 3 weeks before the first day of school... You remember that party they were throwing? From some of the new freshman from our middle school?"

Justin nodded, remembering that day. It was going to be their first party. He was guaranteed that he was going to have a good time.

"I was actually having a great time. Until some guy came up to me. We were dancing, having a good time. Before I knew what was happening, we were in a bedroom. He was trying to make a move. I started to yell, but he covered my mouth, and he ... he." Tears fell from her eyes, her body trembling with fear. "He beat me."

"Oh my god... Jessica, I di--" He couldn't seem to form any words at that moment. He didn't expect to hear that. Now he knew, why she always kept to herself. Why she didn't have any friends. Why she always had her head crammed in the books, rather than going out and having fun.

"Now, I bet you think I'm a horrible person than before."

Justin shook his head. "No! Oh god Jess, how could you think that. I never thought about you in that way. I just always wondered why you were so quiet... I'm so sorry Jess." Justin sighed heavily, as he slowly reached for her hands.

Jessica whipped the tear from her eyes as she placed her other hand in his. "So, what is it that you wanted to explain to me?" She asked quietly.

Justin shut his eyes, taking a deep breath as he held her hand. "I'm sorry for the way Shannon acted on Friday. She's still upset and hurt that I broke up with her."

"Why did you?" She asked quietly.

"It just didn't feel the same anymore." He answered quickly.

"Oh." She said awkwardly. "What about Sylvia? From what I know, you two are really close."

Justin smiled. "We are. She was my girlfriend. She was my first love. My first ever!"

"Why did you two break up?"

Justin cleared his thoart nervously, swallowing the lump that was forming inside. "That was such and awful day. It was a few months after our freshman year. The year was almost over. It was when she brought Shannon into our what everyone calls our 'popular group '... And believe me, Shannon wasn't what she is today. Thanks to me and Sylvia... Well, we um... Starting talking and hanging out. And um... I... I..."

"You cheated on Sylvia?" Jessica said in disbelief, her eyes wide in shock.

He nodded his head slowly, his eyes brimming with tears. "I wasn't expecting it. Me and Shannon were just hanging out and we started kissing, and we... We had sex... I had no idea what I was thinking. And another thing that hurt the most, was that I was falling for Shannon."

"And what happened to you and Sylvia?"

Justin sighed heavily. His tears, now flowing freely down his cheeks. "I started ignoring her. I couldn't even talk, hug, see, or kiss my own girlfriend! I felt awful. I just couldn't break her heart... But, I knew I already did... Then one night. I couldn't take it anymore. I had to see her. I went to her house and climbed inside her window... She was sitting on her bed. Like if she was waiting for me. Like she knew I was coming over... That's what I love about her. She knows me better than anyone... And that day, was pure hell for both of us... Just pure hell...

"I had a feeling you'd come... I was waiting for you."

Justin shivered slightly, cold from the pouring rain outside.

"Why are you ignoring me J? What are you hiding from me?"

"Baby..." Justin started softly. Sylvia's tone of voice seemed to be scaring him. "I'm so sorry for every bit of pain I've put you through. I don't know what I was thinking. All I know is that I was being such a jackass. I never meant to hurt you. I love you so much Sylvia. So much. You were my first at everything. My first love. The first person I made love to."

"Where are you getting that with all this?"

"I... I don't want to be with you anymore." He said, no louder than a whisper. His heart ached, as he watched the tears escaping her eyes. "I cheated on you... I had sex with Shannon. And I'm falling for her... That's why I'm breaking up with you."

"Go away."

"Sylvia, I'm so sorry."

"Go away." She said alittle more sternly. "Get away from me Justin Randall Timberlake... I hate you! Never in my life did I expect to hate the person that I love. I despise you Justin. You make me sick! Don't ever come near me again, you selfish son of bitch!!"

The tears in Justin's eyes matched the tears that Sylvia had in her own. They were both hurt. Both heart broken. Both in pain. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry baby... I never meant to hurt you." He cried, as he tried to hold her in his arms.

"Fuck you!" She cried, as she slapped him hard across the face. "Get away from me! Leave! Leave me alone!"

Justin cried harder, as he held his hand against his cheek. "I love you and always will." He said, before climbing out her window and into the pouring rain.

Jessica shook her head, as she listened to Justin's story. "I'm so sorry." She said sincerely.

"I was such an idiot for letting her go." He said softly, whipping the tears from his eyes. "I was a total wreck the next few days... I missed her like crazy. I sunk into a deep depression. I didn't talk to anyone. I didn't sleep. I didn't eat. I was killing myself, but I didn't care. And one night, I decided to end my depression. It was raining outside and I was at a near by park. I was crying and screaming. I didn't want to live. I had cuts on my arms and my face. I was getting ready to end my life, but something happened...

Justin froze when he felt a hand against his shoulder. He turned around slowly, his eyes wide with tears, as he looked at the person sitting next to him. "S--- Sylvia?"

"What are you doing J?" She cried softly, looking at the cuts, all over his arms and face. "Why J? Why are you doing this?"

"Because I hurt you. I broke your heart and I lost you. And you hate me... I don't deserve to live."

"No. Oh Justin, I don't hate you sweetie. I was upset and hurt because of what you did. But I could never hate you. J... Don't do this to yourself." The tears from her eyes mixing with the rain that was coming down against them. "You deserve so much more in your life. Just because you broke up with me, doesn't mean that I'll stop being your friend. I'll always be there for you."

"I'm so sorry baby." Justin cried softly.

"Shh... It's okay. It's okay." She said, as she carefully took the knife from his hands. "I'll still be your friend. I'll be your bestest friend." She said softly, as she wrapped him in a warm embrace.

Justin cried harder, wrapping his arms protectively around her. "Please don't leave me beautiful... I love you. I love you so much."

"I love you too J. I love you too."

"She saved my life." Justin said, as he looked over at Jessica. "If it wasn't for her kindness, her words, her advice, her love. I wouldn't be here."

"Wow... You two have been through a lot together." Jessica said, as she gave his hand a gentle squeeze.

"Yeah." Justin smiled. "I'll always love her. And I'm glad she found Steve. He treats her like a queen. I know she'll be okay. And that's what matters to me. As long as she's happy, so will I."

Jessica smiled, as she wrapped her arms around his neck in a gentle embrace. Justin was startled at her sudden approach, but managed to wrap his arms around her thin waist.

"Thanks." He said, smiling sweetly. "I needed that."

"Anytime." She answered, slowly pulling back, but stopped.

Her eyes slowly moved upward as they came in contact with Justin's blue eyes, her senses were suddenly lost.

Justin sighed heavily, his tongue slowly tracing over his lips. His eyes were staring back into hers and slowly moving down to her lips. He slowly looked into her eyes again, inching his face closer to hers. One hand was kept around her waist as the other, slowly made it's way to her face. They both closed their eyes, as their lips gently touch eachother. Light pecks began, but slowly eveloped into a passionate kiss. Their lips were moving together slowly, in such a passionate way that could leave them both breathless and panting for more.

Justin let his tongue trace over her bottom lip and quickly proceeded when she slightly opened her mouth, granting him the invitation. What seemed almost like an eternity, they both slowly pulled away gasping for air. Justin took a deep breath, as he placed one more longing kiss on her lips. They both sat breathless knowing that things were going to be different. Though neither of them knew if those changes would be for better or for worse.... <%=title%>
