* After the audition *
Jessica sighed angrily, as she ignored the voice coming from behind her.
"Jessica, please wait!" She stopped suddenly, as she looked at the person standing in front of her. Anger and disgust flashing across her face.
"What?!" She replied angrily.
"What's wrong?" Justin asked quietly, as he looked at her concerned.
"Why should you care what's wrong with me?"
"Why do you keep running away from me?"He asked back.
Jessica took a deep breath. For once, she didn't have an answer. Not even she knew why she was being so cruel to him. She had to admit that he was very good looking. But, she wasn't going to let him know that. She looked at Justin again, her eyes quickly brimming with tears.
"Jessica?" Justin said softly. He quickly ran up to her, holding her in his arms, as she dropped to the ground crying.
"Wha- Why are you crying?"
Her body trembled, as he held her in his arms.
"I hate my life. I hate the way I am. I hate everything about myself."
"Jessica... Listen to me." He took a deep breath, as he continued. "Believe it or not, you're a wonderful person. You're smart and talented."
"It isn't enough!! I wish I was beautiful. I wish I was popular."
"What do you mean why?!" She pulled away from his embrace and looked at him confused. "You have it all Justin. Everyone admires you. Everyone wants to be like you. Everyone loves you... And me? I have nothing, not even friends." More tears came as she continued. "For once, I wish I had everything that you have. Just once."
Justin tried not to smile, as he listened to what she had just said. He took a deep breath, trying to keep a straight face as he started talking.
"You'll get your chance." He said, as Jessica looked at him confused.
* Friday night *
Jessica sighed, as she sat alone in her living room. Her parents had left to a company party. She took a deep breath, as she stood up and sat down in front of her piano. She closed her eyes as she started playing a soft ballad. As her fingers traced over the keys, she was at ease. But she slightly jumped, when the doorbell echoed through the house. She stood up quickly and walked towards the door.
"Sylvia?" She said, once the door was open. "Wha- What are you doing here?"
"Well, hello to you too." Sylvia said, as she smiled sweetly.
"I'm sorry... Please, come in."
"Thanks." She said, as she stepped inside the house, as Jessica closed the door.
"So, what's up?" Jessica asked.
"Nothing. I just thought I'd come over and get you ready."
"Ready?" Sylvia nodded. "Ready for what?"
"For Justin's party silly."
"Oh." She said quietly. "Um, I'm sorry but, I don't think I belong."
"Oh hush girl!" Sylvia said, as she dragged her up stairs. "You'll be with me, Steve, and Justin, don't worry." They reached Jessica's room and sat her and her stuff on the bed. "Let's get you ready." Sylvia said, as she took out the make-up, clothes, brush, gel, scissors, and well, everything else.
"I can't believe this. You're giving me a make over. Not just any make over. A HUGE make over! And I'm letting you."
Sylvia smiled, as she held the scissors and comb in each hand. "You'll thank me later. trust me."
Jessica smiled, as Sylvia started cutting her hair. "Can I ask you something?"
"Sure." She said, as she concentrated on her hair.
"Why did Justin Timberlake start talking to me all of a sudden?"
Sylvia stayed quiet for a minute, as she continued cutting her hair. "I don't know hun. You got me there." She bit her bottom lip when she noticed her reaction, so she continued. "He's really a sweetheart. The perfect gentlemen. Just get to know him, you'll see."
Jessica shrugged her shoulders. "I suppose." She said quietly, as she let Sylvia finish.
