Chapter 8

Justin sighed as he locked the door to his car, pushing the button making sure the alarm was on. He walked up to the front door and opened it slowly.

"Justin Randall Timberlake!!"

Justin grunt as he heard his mother yelling from the kitchen. He closed the door and locked it. He took a deep breath as he slowly made his way towards the kitchen.  "Yes mom?" He said quietly.

Lynn Harless sighed angrily, as she looked at her son. "Justin Randall, where in heaven's name have you been?"

Justin sighed as he looked down at the floor. "I was at the beach with my friends... Some girl at school was throwing a party."

"Justin, its 10 o'clock... You said you'd be home for dinner."

"I know... I'm sorry mom."

Lynn sighed as she looked at her son. Even she has noticed a change in him. She wondered what was going on. "Justin?" She questioned softly.

Justin looked up. A confused look in his eyes.

"Sweetheart... What's wrong?"

Justin sighed sadly, as he took a seat at the table. "I need help mom."

"With what dear?" She asked, taking a seat in front of him.

"Girls." He said shamefully.

"Since when do you need help with girls?"

"Since like, a week ago."

"What is it?"

Justin sighed, as he started playing with his hands. He was shaking. "Remember that girl Yana I was telling you about?"

Lynn nodded. "Yes." She smiled. The way Justin would talk to her about Yana always brought a smile to her face. Yana seemed like a real sweet girl. She knew she would be perfect for Justin. Her motherly instinct told her.

"There's a problem."

"What kind of problem?"

Justin sighed nervously, swallowing the knot that was forming in his throat. "I-- I think I'm falling in love with her." He said, no louder than a whisper.

Lynn sat quiet for a moment. Then, a huge smile crossed her face. "Why is that a problem sweetie?"

"Cuz I'm scared that she doesn't feel the same about me."

"Does she like you?"

Justin shrugged his shoulders. "I dunno."

Lynn sighed as she stood up. She walked next to him, placing her hands on his shoulders. "Sweetheart, don't let it bother you so much... Just give it some time, don't push things... Cuz if you do... They may not turn out like you want them too." She placed a kiss on his forehead and walked out of the room.

Justin sighed. He stood up from the table and walked up the stairs to his bedroom.

* The next day, Sunday *

Justin pulled up on Yana's driveway. He got out of his car and walked up to her front door. He sighed as he softly knocked.

The door opened slowly. Justin looked up, his eyes meeting with Yana's.

Yana looked at Justin, a surprised look on her face. "Justin, what are you doing here?"

"I just wanted to see if you were okay."

"I'm fine." She said. "Why do you ask?"

"I was just wondering... You looked a little upset when you left the beach yesterday."

She laughed slightly. "I'm sorry... I was just tired that's all."

Justin smiled shyly. "Okay, just wondering."

"Why don't you come in?" She insisted.

Justin smiled, as he slowly walked inside. "Hey, nice crib." He said, his eyes wondering around.

Yana laughed. "Thanks."

"Are you alone?"

"Yeah... My parents are out of town."

"Oh I see." He sat down on the couch, suddenly becoming nervous. "Um, Yana?"

"D-Do you remember what you were telling me yesterday?" He looked at her.

"About what?"

"About- How you- Fell in love with someone?"

"Yeah... What about it?"

"Um, I was wondering... Uh- Wh-Who is it that you fell in love with?"

Yana sighed, as she looked at Justin. "Why do you want to know?"

"Because I-Well I--" He looked up at Yana. Her brown eyes looking intensively back into his. He stood up slowly, walking up to her. He brought his hand up to her cheek, caressing it softly. He brought his face closer to hers, his lips dangerously close to hers. "I think I'm falling in love with you." He said, quietly. Without even thinking, he brushed his lips against hers. He gently pressed his lips against hers, moving them slowly. Soon after, Yana pulled back.

"I think you should go."

Justin looked at her, a confused look covering his face. "Yana I-I'm sorry... I jus--"

"Please Justin... Just-Go." She quietly.

Justin opened his mouth to say something, but held himself back. He nodded his head slowly and walked out of the house. Yana turned around and ran to the window, as she saw Justin backing out of her driveway and disappearing down the street. She sighed, as a single tear trickled its way down her cheek.

* Monday morning, 3rd period *

Justin sat quietly at his desk, as he and rest of the class waited for the teacher to come in. Josh and the rest of the gang surrounded Justin.

"Yo, J what's happenin' man?" Matt asked.

Justin sat quiet.

"Hey J, what's the matter?"

"Nothing." He said.

"We-" Before Josh could say anything, the door opened. Justin looked up, his heart nearly stopped as Yana walked inside the classroom, her friend Lauren behind her. The guys turned back to look at Justin. Justin's eyes instantly became watery, as he looked at Yana. He quickly looked away before the tears could escape.

"Yo dude, what happened between you two? We thought ya'lls were tight?" Robert said, as the others nodded.

"I thought so too, but know... I'm not so sure."

"Why do you say that man?" Josh asked.

"I went over to her house yesterday... I just wanted to see if she was all right, cuz she looked a little upset when she left the party Saturday."

"She just told me she was tried."

"And you’re all depressed because of that?" Trace looked at him, giving him a weird look.

Justin narrowed his eyes at him. "No."

"Well, then what happened?"

Justin shook his head angrily. "Fuck it! I'm outta here." He yelled. He grabbed his backpack and walked out of the classroom. His friends looking at him confused. Mr. Matthews looked at Justin as he stood by the door.

"Mr. Timberlake, where are you going?" He said, but Justin ignored his message. The teacher shook his head and walked inside. "All right everyone, let's get started..." He said, as he walked to the board, getting ready for his lecture.

Yana sighed as she looked at Justin's friends. Matt leaned over. "Hey Yana, what's going on?"

"It's not my place to say." She said, as she looked back at the door that Justin had walked out in.
