Cogito: Do You?

So Tired

"Well it's been ten years and a thousand tears and look at the mess I'm in
A broken nose and a broken heart, an empty bottle of gin
Well I sit and I pray in my broken down Chevrolet
While I'm singing to myself there's got to be another way
Take away, take away, take away this ball and chain
I'm lonely and I'm tired and I can't take any more pain
Take away, take away, never to return again
Take away, take away, take away this ball and chain"

-Ball and Chain, Social Distortion

To all those who fight, I am sorry.   To all who cry for peace, good luck.  I cannot care, I cannot carry on.   It seems Acquiescence is my final outlet.  I give up, and find peace.  To carry on now seems futile, but I was so close, so close!  We have violence in excess, we have apathy in excess, and we can't fight a single battle without fighting against ourselves.  I hope that we do go to war, that we do find out what it is to fight, under chance of death, for our freedoms, our peace, our life and our children's lives.  Thomas Paine did not lie.  We have begun to think of life too lightly, and not appreciate what we have here.  I have listened to my teacher call us lazy, to the people in other nations begin to disrespect America.  We are failing.  Now we, the Millennium generation, are the heirs to society.  Generation X has wasted it's potential on it's shock value, to protest the set standards of the previous generations.  Now as the Net Generation begins to stretch it's legs, and the Baby Boomers power begins it's long waning period, we find that we are the future.  We are not ready.  We are misguided, misdirected, and misjudged.  We think differently, and you will not accept that.  So what can we do?  You will either beat us into the mold that you were formed from, a mold that is no longer current, or discard us to the outskirts of society and deem us riffraff.  We are not simply your children anymore, we are your future.  We are Generation Next, and we are now!  If you are not willing to help us through this, do not be afraid when we fight.  Some will fight for you, but most will fight you, and they will win.  War will settle this.  The hippies of the 60's can feel the old anxieties grow again, the veterans of Desert Storm can again smell the burning of ammunition.  We are children as of yet, but within the next few years, we become your Army, your Politicians, your Administrators, your CEOs.   When this time comes, I feel sorry for you, because then your follies will be undeniable.  All I do, in the meantime, is sit and watch.  I laugh with you now, but soon I will laugh at you.  Why?  You haven't taken the time to give us something to believe in.  You gave us technology, but forgot about religion.   You gave us pride, but never a focal point.  We have the tools, but not the morals with which to utilize them effectively.  When it comes down to it, you have given us nothing to believe in but ourselves, and who can save himself?  Yes, you laugh at our inexperience.  Yes, I laugh at your ineptitude.

Don't believe me?  Haha!   Touché!  We need to come to a realization that we are all dying, and that we are all damned.  Keep it in mind when the storm comes.  Contact Me if you are confused, or if you wish to discuss.
