Happy SAHD's ?

The Baltimore Dads have actually found a way to make the SAHD acronym sound well... optimistic. They are offering a documentary on stay at home dads to premiere on January 25th, 2009. Trailer & PR below.

Name: "David Schiavone"

My name is David Schiavone.  I am  a San Francisco based television and commercial producer. My company is called High Line Films.  Our main office is located in New York City.  I am writing because we are in the middle of developing a docu-style TV series. The “untitled project” will focus on one to three stay-at-home dads; exploring the fun their day to day lives as well as exploring the more complicated topics of making ends meet, having a social life, the psychology of being a stay-at-home father and tackling hard parental decisions.

Like the hit TLC show Jon and Kate Plus 8, our show will be an expose` of these dads and their families. We strongly believe it will only take a short time before audiences around the country start relating to these men as well as start caring about them. The ultimate goal is to create programming that is both entertaining but also heartfelt.

With that I am writing you because we are currently in search of stay-at-home or single dads to interview, for casting purposes. I was wondering if you could recommend some forums that we could post a bulletin on.

Thank you in advance for any consideration you can give me.

Very Truly Yours,
David Schiavone

Name: "Leftfield"

A Manhattan-based TV production company is searching for dynamic fathers/kids to showcase the trials, tribulations, and humor that goes hand in hand with raising children. In today's media world, there is little to no representation of fathers as the primary caregiver and it's time to change that perception while having a little fun in the process!

If you fit this description or know someone that does please contact us ASAP?   Wives please feel free to submit your husbands!

Requirements:
1.) You are a stay-at-home dad or single father.
2.) You have at least 2 children, preferably between the ages of 1-12.  **The more kids the better**

Please email TVMr.Mom@gmail.com with a short description of yourself and family, a family photo, as well as your contact information.

The world of SAHD's is definitely increasing.  I think that your blog, and others like this, help to give dads encouragement and support.

I'll watch this with interest. It's about time we moved on from this attitude of women staying at home and looking after the kids, whilst the man of the house goes out to works. Women seem to have achieved equality, or close to it, when it comes to employment, yet SAHDs are still widely treated with contempt.
