Introduction to women's rights

Imagine if you had to stay in a house all day and work. You would do the laundry in the early morning, bake the rest of the morning, and sit to the side while the men of your family enjoy the lunch that you had made. Then in the afternoon, you would clean the house and possibly go out shopping. The only catch… you would have to wear a burqua, the sweltering hot full body cover-up, non-revealing clothes underneath, and you would have to be accompanied with a close male relative. And usually they did not want to come. This is the life of an Afghani woman. They do not have rights.
That's what we're trying to change.

Why have we put this site together?

At our school, we have an enriched (or gifted) program. We were asked in this program to present an issue we cared about. My two friends and I were unanimous in selecting women's rights, an issue that many people I know think is over. We've won the vote and are equal in many countries. Unfortunately, in many places the opposite is the case, and we feel that people need to be informed of this. So, we have compiled a detailed web page of women's rights. Feel free to use this site for reference and to spread the word of women's rights.
