FAMILY MOVIE and SWIM NIGHT:

Thanks to all who came out Friday night! Family Movie Night was a great success. Popcorn, pretzels, giant slides & movie screens, and an evening swim made for a great night! A big THANK YOU to Chapman Magic, our lifeguards, and all the volunteers who were at the event keeping things running smoothly.

CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING - WE NEED YOU!

Colony Pool can use the help of its members to volunteer as Gate Keepers during the season. We are looking for adults to perform this responsibly. Typically we are asking them to work a four-hour shift each time. Dates are open for seven days a week starting 18 June. They will check members in and collect guest fees and answer questions as needed. They will greet prospective members, check out games, and answer phone calls. This position was paid in the past and would cost the pool $6.55 (plus overhead) an hour or about $52 a day (higher in August)! If our members can fill this position we save the money for other expenses and we have people looking at the pool members with a fresh eye rather than the same people growing tired of seeing people come and go. There will be a sign up schedule at the front gate. This is an interesting way to meet your fellow members and it really helps the pool (90 days at $50 each is $4500 or roughly 15 family memberships).

We are looking for motivated members to help head up a Fundraising/Marketing Drive to boost our building fund and help bring those much needed improvements to our pool. RENEWAL DUES ARE DUE by MAY 15TH EACH YEAR:

Dues are due in full by May 15th of each year for all returning members. If you pay after the 15th, please be sure to include a $25 late fee. Forms are available to print out on the JOIN page of the website. We ask that all NEW members mail or drop off a completed form so that we can properly update our membership information. If you haven't updated your information with us in the past year, please be sure to mail us an updated information sheet. We've heard from several people that they have not been receiving our mailers. If you are one of those people, please send an Email to colonypool@cox.net. Please include the names of all applicable family members, address, phone, and e-mail address.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE:

Any member wishing to take a leave of absence for the 2007 season must provide written notice and remit payment of $25.00 to Colony Recreation & Civic Association, P.O. Box 22363, Newport News, VA 23609 prior to May 15, 2008. This will allow you to retain your status and return to the pool in 2008 at the General Membership rate.

CANCELLATION OF MEMBERSHIP:

Members wishing to cancel their membership must send a written notice to Colony Recreation & Civic Association, P.O. Box 22363, Newport News, VA 23609 prior to May 15, 2008. Stock Members that are in possession of their stock certificate need to submit their certificate at this time in order to be eligible for repayment of your stock. Repayment of stock is done at the end of each season as long as funds are available.
