It took Jeff’s eyes a few minutes to adjust to the dim lights of the club. Behind him stood Matt, Gabrielle, and Edge. Jeff looked around, not noticing anyone he knew. Edge strained to see a figure sitting at the bar. He held his hands on Gabby’s shoulders and lef her forward. She sat on the stool as Edge tapped the shoulder of a man. He turned around to see what was going on. "Can I help..." the man’s voice trailed off. "Brother, what are you doing here? I thought you four where going to the movies?"

"Well, we are. But first we thought we’d stop in and see what was going on. Besides, we’re a little hungry so we thought we’d feed now and get it over with," Edge informed his younger brother.

"Oh, I see."

"So, where is Josh?"

"He’s over there dancing with his sister," Christian told him.

"Oh, you mean the one that Jeff is trying not to obviously stare at?"

"Yeah, that’s the one. Her name is Kalika, and if Jeff is half as intellegent as I hope he is, he’ll realize that he’ll never walk again. Josh let’s nobody, and I mean nobody, touch his sister. That includes feeding. So, hands off, got it?" Matt and Edge nodded. "Jeff, did you hear me?" Jeff ignored him. "Hey! Rainbow boy! I said, did you hear me?"

"Huh? Yeah Chris, hands off, I got ya." Jeff looked back towards the girl.

She was gone.

"Hey Jeff, Matt, Edge, Gabby. This is my little sister Kalika."

"Pleased to meet you," Kalika said.

"Kalika....that is such a pretty name. What nationality is it?" Gabby asked her.

"It’s Greek. It means rosebud." Josh snickered. Kalika turned and looked up at him, a tear evident in the corner of her eye to no one but him. He pulled her close to him, hugging her tightly, whispering into her hair.

"Kali, you know I didn’t mean it. I was just kidding around." Kali cried lightly into his chest, her tears making soft marks on his shirt. Josh looked up. "Can you excuse us for a moment?" The group nodded. "Thanks." Josh lifted Kalika’s chin and pointed towards the door. He led, Kalika following closely at his heels. Once they were outside, The group turned and looked at Christian.

"What was that all about?" Edge asked.

"Don’t worry about it," Christian told them.

"Too bad. Somebody doesn’t just burst into tears when somebody laughs at them," edge continued.

"Well she does, okay?"

"Tell me why," Edge instructed.

"Look, both her mother and her father were killed when she was very young. Josh raised her all by himself. He doesn’t want her to know what he is, nor what we are. He is very overprotective of her, as she is all he has left in the moratl world. She is very, very shy and when she feels as if somebody is laughing at her, she runs off crying. She has no idea what love is outside of me and Josh. So dont say anything to her about anything, don’t pick on her, don’t laugh at her, even if it is all in good fun. She won’t like it, and then Josh will get angry." Edge nodded.

Meanwhile, outside, Josh was leaning against the wall, talking softly to Kalika. "I told you I was just joking." Kalika backed up to look into his face.

"Yeah I know Josh, but you know how I feel. You know how I am. And now I..I just made a fool out of myself...in front of your friends," she whispered, tears comming to her eyes more freely now.

"No you didn’t. I’ll just explain to them...that’s all. I’m sure they’ll understand. Didn’t you see the way Rainbow Brote was staring at you?"

"Rainbow Brite?" she asked.

"Oh..you don’t know him by that yet. Jeff, that’s who I meant. We call him Rainbow Brote because of his hair." Kalika nodded.

"That’s not the point Josh. The point is, you hurt my feelings."

"Yeah I know Kali, and I said I was sorry. Is that not good enough for you? What would you have done if mom laughed at somthing you said to try and get you to smile? Hmm? Would you start to cry then?"

"why, Josh....why are you doing this to me? What did I ever do to you?"

Kalika asked him.

"I’m sorry Kail. I shouldn’t have said that. But you know I love you Kail, and aything I ever say to you is almost always in good fun...you know that," he told her.

"No, you don’t love me. If you did, you wouldn’t have asid that about mom," Kalika said, running off, crying.

"Kalika! Come back!" Josh turned the corner she had turned down and looked. She was gone. Josh started to panic. He ran back to the club, dashing inside and heading straight for the group. Matt, Christian, and Jeff sat there.

"Where’s your sister?" Matt asked.

"She’s gone," Josh said, not beliving it himself.

"What the hell do you mean she’s gone?" Christian asked, standing up.

"I’ll explain later, just get Edge and Gabby." Jeff went and got them off the dance floor, explaining to them on the way back. "Come on, we’ve got to find her." The troupe ran outside and stood in front of the club.

"KALI!!!" both Christian and Josh called out. The five set off running in different directions, searching for the lost little girl.
