"Do you like it?" Chris asked her.
"We worked really hard on it," Josh finished.
"I love it," Kalika informed them. "I’ve never been so happy in my life." Josh and Chris smiled. Kalika turned and hugged them. Nobody had ever made her so happy before. She sat on her bed and lie back, looking up at the stars, much like she was doing now. Kalika glanced at her clock. It told her it was 8:52 pm. Kalika stared at the phone. She picked it up and dialed a number. "Hi, is Christian there?"
"Hey Kali, sup?" Christian asked her.
"Nothing much Chrissy. I was just wondering, what are you doing tonight?"
"Hanging out with Josh, why?"
"Because I wanted to know if you wanted to go to a club wth me," she told him.
"That’s what me and Josh are doing, actually. Want to come?"
"Sure, if it is okay with you and Josh."
"Go ask him. If he says yes, then I’ll see you at 9:30, okay?"
"Yeah Chrissy. Love ya."
"Love you too. Bye."
"Bye," Kalika walked across her room in her pajamas. She flipped on the light near the door. She then headad over to the closet door. Glancing inside the open door, she tryed to think of something good to wear. "Oh man, what am I going to wear?" She started pulling out outfit after outfit. Finally, she came across a pleated, plaid mini skirt that had grey, red, and cream in it. On the hanger beside it was a long-sleeved, cream, mock turtle-neck sweater. She tossed them on the bed and knelt to look in the bottom of the closet. She dug through the bottom of the closet until she produced a pair of black maryjanes. She put her other shoes back in the bottom of the closet neatly. "Oh, forgot to ask Josh if I can go with them." Kalika slipped her small feet into a pair of cute puppy dog slippers. She opened the door and padded softly down the hall to where Jethro Tull sounded softly under the door. Kalika knocked silently. The music was turned down a little more. The door opened.
"What’s up, Kali?" Josh asked.
"Can I go out with you and Chris tonight? I don’t want to stay home alone again, I get scared." Kalika looked so innocent and genuinly afraid that Josh couldn’t refuse.
"Sure Kali. I don’t think Chris would mind."
"Chris invited me. He said to ask you if you minded. He wanted me to go."
"Well then, I might as well make you the happy little sister. You can come." Kalika smiled and hugged Josh. He hugged her back, smiling as well. Josh thought to himself. ‘She looks more and more like mom everyday. She reminds me of mom so much, I’d think that they were the same person.’ Kalika turned and headed back down the hall, padding along. She closed her door behind her. Padding over to her dresser, she opened the top drawer, grabbing a pair of cream knee-high socks that had a diamond pattern along the top of them in grey and red. She slid her legs out of the blue flannel pants that she wore as pajamas. She pulled the little skirt up around her slender waist. She fastened the little straps on the side, and sat on the bed. She pulled her blue tank-top up over her head and grabbed the beige shirt. She pulled it on over her head, looking in the mirror quickly to see if she looked okay. When she decided that she did, she sat on the bed and pulled the socks up her legs and slid her feet into her shoes, pulling the straps over and fasteneing them with the little buckles. Grabbing a handful of ponytails, she pulled her hair into two identical pigtails. She went over to her bed, kneeling next to it and bending down to look under. She found a shoebox that had ‘Ribbon’ written on it. She pulled the box out and opened the box. She grabbed a grey satin ribbon and a red one. She tied them around the ponytails. Glancing at the clock, it said 9:30. Promptly, she heard the doorbell ring. glancing one final time in the mirror, she coated her lips in silvery lip gloss. She opened her door and headed down the hall and down the stairs. stopping at the foot of the stairs, Josh and Chris stopped talking. They turned their heads to stare at her. "Where did my little sister go? Who put this little angel in her place?" Kalika certainly did earn the title of angel. Christian offered his arm.
"Shall we go, m’lady?" Kalika giggled.
"Certainly, good sir," Kalika responded. Christian and Kalika walked out, Josh following closely behind them. Josh locked the door and the three climbed into Christian’s black convertible mustang. Christian put the key in the engine. He took off, heading towards the city. Kalika smiled, the wind whipping through her hair. She never knew what lie ahead of them that night.
