Dakota sat down in her swing and looked around at the trees. There was a gentle breeze as she swung. The air played with her hair and she enjoyed it. She could feel Jeff walking around the woods to find her. She climbed out of her swing and ran for the house. She was not looking where she was going and ran right into Jeff. "Hello sweetie, going somewhere?" he asked her. She shrugged as he took her hand in his. Together they went for a walk. When it neared dusk, they returned home. Dakota climbed to her room and lay down on her bed. Gangrel knocked and came in. She sat up on the bed. "Sire, can I ask you a question?" "Go ahead my child." "Is Jeff my..." Soul-mate?" Gangrel finished for her. She had forgotten he could read her mind at any given time. "That is for you to discover. It is not Edge or his brother, but you will discover which of the Hardys is your mate." With that, he got up and walked out of the room. Dakota slipped on her velvet black pants and a tight black tank top. She pulled a blue baby-doll dress on over this. She headed towards the stairs but decided to pop into Jeff’s room. "What’s up Cody?" he asked her. "I’m going hunting later, and this time I’m gonna do it all by myself. Wanna come along?" she inquired. "I guess so...but what are you going to hunt?" he interrogated, a mischievous look in his eyes. "It all depends...maybe humans, maybe a hunter, or maybe just you," she said, seductively. Jeff rose from his chair and walked over to her. She smiled as his mouth came close to hers. "Are you sure about that?" he breathed. "The hunter has just become the hunted," she breathed back. She freed herself from his arms and ran down the stairs. He ran after her. She slipped out the door and ran into the woods. He followed her in hot pursuit. She took a detour and returned to the house. She went back inside the house. It was empty. She looked around and did not hear Jeff come in. He tackled her from behind onto the couch. She rotated under him and turned to face him. She stuck her tongue out at him and smiled. She slid out from underneath him and raced up the stairs. By the time Jeff came up, she was no were insight. He climbed to the top of the roof and spotted her. She ran over to his windowsill and slid in. When Jeff finally caught her, he was out of breath. "Out of breath already old man? I’m not even breathing fast." It was true, she was breathing normally. She made the mistake of sitting down on his bed. He sat down next to her. "You ready to stop teasing me now?" he asked. "Nope," she replied. He pounced on her. She struggled under him and the two wrestled around for a few moments before he finally pinned her. "Now what are you going to do Cody. Little miss goddess of the hunt has been defeated. You have been..." Dakota reached up and kissed him. He stopped talking and kissed back. The two lay there kissing for a few moments before it was broken. "I see you’ve decided to stop teasing me," Jeff questioned. "No, I just got tired of hearing you talk, that’s all," she retorted. She smiled as his mouth closed in on hers. Dakota pulled away mid-kiss. "What’s wrong?" Jeff breathed. "Shh...they’re home," Dakota said as she got to the window. She dropped to the ground and ran towards the garage. Jeff scribbled a note that they were going out hunting. He slipped out the window too. He got on his bike as Dakota wrapped her arms around him. It was only 10:00 at night. The two rode to the city.

When they arrived at the city, Dakota dragged Jeff into a nearby club. The two went up to the bar and Dakota ordered water. She turned and scanned the room for a person. Jeff pointed out some man and Dakota bit her lip. "No, he was my friend...I could never do that," she informed him. He found someone else, a taller man who was older. This man was obviously drunk. Dakota and Jeff followed him out, and Dakota felt someone following them. Jeff, go back to the bar, I’ll be there in a moment, I have to talk to my friend Dakota told him mentally. Jeff nodded and went back into the bar. "That’s odd, a vampire leaving her mate," came a voice from behind her. The man tackled her to the ground and as he raised he stake to stab her, she cried out, "Michael no!" He looked down to see that it was Dakota. "Dakota? Is that...is that you?" "No numbnuts it’s Becky, of course it’s me." "Where have you been?" "Away from here." "And now you’re one of them? I can’t believe you." "It’s not like I had any choice in the matter. Besides, they treat me better than Jared did." "Do you know that he killed your mother?" "He did what!?!?!" Dakota screamed. "I’ll kill the bastard. He will not get away with this, mark my word." "Calm down Coda, I have been tracking him. I’ve missed you." "Yeah, I’ve missed you too. But it’s not like I’ve been gone all that long. Listen, can you do me a favor?" "I’d do anything for you Coda, you know that." "Please don’t tell anybody about me. Let them think I ran away. And please, let me and my mate go feed, or else we’ll die. Please." "Okay Coda, I promise." "Thank you." With those words said, she went back into the club. Jeff looked at her. "Cody, what’s wrong?" "Nothing love." "Don’t lie to me." "I’ll tell you later." She nodded towards a man on the other side of the room. She inhaled the air and her head flew towards the door. Jared had walked in. "Hide me Jeff, please," she whispered. Jeff took her hand and led her out to the dance floor. The two of them danced until Jared had left. Every time Jared came close to them, Jeff pulled her into a kiss. Dakota told Jeff to stay in the club; she had business to attend to. She told him that if she was not back in five minutes to come look for her. She slipped out of Jeff’s arms and followed Jared out of the bar.

She followed him down a dark alley. When she was about to attack him, he turned and threw her into a wall. He held a knife to her throat. "You killed my mother you bastard. I’ll kill you." "That dirty whore deserved it. You’ll be next you damn slut." Dakota kicked him in the groin. She went to run as he fell to the ground. He tripped her and she landed next to him. She felt her fangs grow and she went to bite him. He flipped her over, smacking her head against the concrete floor. Her head was bleeding badly now. Jared grabbed a piece of wood and thrust it into her chest. Dakota screamed. "My friends will destroy you for this. They’ll tear you limb from limb. Lucky for you they’re not here now." Jeff had heard her silent scream and ran out of the tavern. He raced for the closest alley. "Here comes one of them now," Dakota hissed. Jared got up and ran. Dakota felt light-headed and stopped screaming. When Jeff found her, she was still awake. He lifted her head and licked her wound. It stopped bleeding and healed instantly. He lifted her limb body and raced for his bike. He jumped on and hurried home.

Gangrel and the others had heard a disturbance and waited for them to come home. None of them were prepared for what they saw. Jeff placed Dakota on the floor and turned to Gangrel. "Sire, help her. Please don’t let anything happen to her." Dakota was aware of her surroundings. Jeff was holding her hand and her arms down, Matt had her other arm, and Edge and Christian had her legs. Gangrel bent and took hold of the stake. He pulled with all his might and the stake came out. Dakota screamed during the whole extraction. "Thank you sire," she whispered. "Be quiet my child. Boys, let’s go. Matt, you stay here with Dakota." Matt nodded as the group headed up the stairs. Matt sat next to her and she whimpered. Matt looked at her face and saw that she had not fed. She would have survived if she had not bled so much before. Matt bit into his wrist. He held it to her mouth. She took a small sip and then pulled her head away. "Princess, you must drink, otherwise you will die." She closed her eyes and lay still. Matt got up and ran up the stairs. He went to get Jeff, but he was sleeping. Matt knew better than to wake Gangrel so he got Edge and Christian who were still awake. They went downstairs. Edge looked at Dakota closely. He tore open his wrist and held it out to Dakota. Matt licked his and the wound sealed instantly. Dakota only took a sip from the brothers, just like with Matt. She again closed her eyes and whimpered. While the brothers sealed their wounds, Matt ran up the stairs and awoke Jeff. He told him what was wrong and Jeff raced down to Dakota. He tore open his wrist. Dakota shook her head. "Cody, baby, you have to drink otherwise you will die. Please, drink from me. I know your chest hurts and I know that drinking my blood hurts too, but you have to do it. Please." He put his wrist next to her mouth. She drank softly from his wrist for a few minutes and then pulled her head away. When Jeff went to go back upstairs followed by Edge and Christian, Dakota whimpered again. Jeff came back down and picked her up while Matt pulled the couch out into a bed. He placed Dakota down again and got a blanket. As soon as he lay back down next to her, she curled up next to him. He wrapped his arms around her and she stopped crying. He fell asleep shortly after. Mat stayed up the whole night watching them.

When Jeff awoke the next morning, Matt was just starting to fall asleep.

Dakota was still sound asleep in his arms. He got up to make coffee. Dakota opened her eyes while he was in the kitchen. She walked over to him sleepily. She reached out and tugged on his shirt. "Cody, what are you doing up?" he questioned. She shook her head and put her arms around his neck to hug him. He hugged her back and offered her a cup of coffee. She shook her head and made herself tea. They sat down at the table and drank. Gangrel walked in. "How are you feeling my child?" Dakota told him mentally that she was fine. Dakota didn’t feel fine. Her chest hurt and the Hunger was substantially knawing at her stomach. She rose to go lay in her room. Jeff told her to stay in the living room and try to sleep there. She lay down on the couch and closed her eyes, but sleep did not come. Jeff came into the room and sat down next to her and rubbed her cheek. Dakota closed her eyes again and fell asleep. When she next awoke, the sun was down.

Dakota looked around and saw Jeff sitting in the chair. "Arise Sleeping Beauty. The Hunger must be aching, but I am not allowed to let you out. Dakota rose sleepily and sat down in his lap. She wrapped her arms around his neck. "Would you do it for a Scooby Snack?" she asked him with laughter in her eyes. "Do what? This?" he asked, kissing her. "You know what I meant." She pulled a jacket on and headed towards the door. He stood behind her and she faced him, body pressed against his. "Come on, or I’m gonna have to go by myself. No clubbing and dancing lets just feed and come home tonight, please? I wanna relax and I want you to help." With that, she rotated her hips slowly against him and walked seductively out the door and towards the bike. The two rode into town to get a drink.
