Amarice looked out the window of the plane. She could see the Canadian wilderness from her seat. It looked so different from her native New Orleans. ‘So,’ she thought, ‘this is where my baby sister is living. She sure has good taste.’ Amarice looked up at the hand that was on her shoulders. "What’s wrong love?" Sebastian asked her. "Nothing dear, just think of my sister, that’s all." Sebastian nodded his head. "You’ll see her soon enough." Sebastian frowned. "What?" Amarice asked. "Your sister, her force is fading, I can no longer feel it in my mind." It was true, Amarice could feel it weakly. Sebastian was far better at detecting other Kindred life forces and if he said that her force was fading, then it was fading. Amarice looked up. The voice over the intercom informed them that the plane was beginning to land. ‘Finally,’ Amarice thought. She took one final look out the window and then closed her eyes while the plane landed.

Christian looked into Lissy’s eyes. "Lissa, can you do me a favor?" "What is that love?" "Can you give me some time alone with Dakota and Jeff. I have to make up for some things." Lissy looked at him hurt. "You can stay down here. I’ll put in a movie or something. You’re going to have to get used to it anyway." Melissa looked at him, face full of questions. "I’ll explain later, just please stay down here." Melissa nodded her head. "If you want love." Christian nodded and hit play on the movie. He kissed the top of her head and then went up the stairs. When he stuck his head in Dakota’s door, Matt stood and kicked him out. Christian questioned him. "What was that for?" "Because. You can’t see her or Jeff until Edge gets back." Christian slammed the door and stormed down the stairs. Melissa looked at him. He picked her up and carried her up to his room. He closed the door and locked it behind him. He lay down on his bed next to Melissa and the two of them lay there until Edge got home.

Edge walked up the stairs and into Dakota’s room. He procured a small bottle and handed it to Matt. Matt looked at it and frowned. "Get two glasses of wine and bring them here quick," Edge ordered him. Matt hurried down the stairs and got as Edge commanded. He brought them up and handed them to Edge along with the bottle. Edge opened the bottle and poured a drop into each glass. "Man, that stuff reeks. What is it?" Matt inquired. "A quick working anti-poison. It will allow them to sleep comfortably and will distribute blood to their veins." "But they can not ingest blood." "This I know, the potion should help that too." "You visited the apothecary didn’t you." "Aye, I did." "Then look your last on them, for the anti-poison will kill them." "Will not." Dakota opened her eyes. Matt helped her to sit up and Edge held the glass to her lips. "Drink, fair one. You will be well again." Dakota took a sip of the wine and spit it back out. "Drink Dakota, or I will have to use force." Dakota took some of the liquid into her mouth. Edge held her nose and forced her to drink it down. Dakota finally finished the entire glass after 10 minutes. Dakota went limp and fell asleep after moments of having drunk the wine. Matt and Edge went into Jeff’s room and did the same thing. Edge told Matt to go lie down and sleep. Matt did as he was told and Edge went to go into Dakota’s room. He looked around and drew the curtains, locking out the setting sun. He lit a few candles and sat in the chair, keeping his vigil over Dakota.

Amarice climbed out of the plane alongside of Sebastian. They rented a convertible car and hit the gas to head towards the woods. Amarice had picked up a hint of life coming from her sister and could feel many strong life forces around her. She looked down at the pictures in her hands. She knew she would be next to her sister in around 15 minutes and she could not wait.

Christian looked down at Melissa, who lie asleep in his arms. "Soon you will understand my love. You will understand that you can never return, and that you will be like me. I can not wait for that day to come."

Edge leapt out of his chair at the sound of knocking. He woke Matt and told him to keep guard of the two sleeping children and that no matter what he was not to let anyone pass unless Edge was with them. Matt nodded and pulled a knife out of his boots at the foot of his bed. Edge went down the stairs and looked out the window. There was a man and woman standing there. The man was tall and well built. He had black hair that was tied back in a braid. His green eyes watched the door. The woman looked familiar. She looked like an older Dakota, only the woman had long black hair and green eyes. Edge opened the door. "My name is Amarice, and I am looking for my sister, Dakota." "Dakota? You know Dakota?" Edge asked her. She nodded. "Yes, she is my sister and I would like to see her." "Prove that you are her sister," Edge demanded. Amarice showed him the photo. She then showed him her license. It was true, she was Dakota’s sister. "And the man, who is he?" "Dakota’s brother-in-law, my husband Sebastian." "Sebastian? Sebastian le Deforne?" The man spoke, "The very same." "I am pleased to meet you sir. I believe you know my sister, Ovelia." "Ovelia? Ah, so you must be Edge, her older brother." Edge nodded. "I am honored to meet the sire of my young sister." "As I am glad to meet the brother of my best childe." Edge bowed formally. "Matt, come down here." Matt came walking down the stairs. He bowed to the two. "Matt, this is Amarice, Dakota’s sister, and Sebastian, Amarice’s husband and the sire of my sister." "Ovelia?" "Yeah." "I see. I am please to meet you." "The pleasure is all mine," Matt remarked. "Edge, they’ve gotten worse since that potion you gave them." "Shit. If you’ll excuse me, I have to attend to two sick members of the household." "Maybe I can be of some assistance," Sebastian offered. Edge nodded. "Follow me then."

He led Sebastian and Amarice up the stairs and into Jeff’s room. Matt detoured into Dakota’s room. "This poor soul is Jeff, and he is Dakota’s soul-mate. Problem is, they are both deathly ill." "My sister, where is she?" Amarice demanded. "Matt, come bring Amarice to see her sister." Matt came and retrieved Amarice. He and she stood next to Dakota’s bed. Back in Jeff’s room, Sebastian rolled up his sleeves. "Explain their symptoms to me." "Well, Dakota is showing worse degrees of the same symptoms as Jeff is. They cannot ingest blood, nor can they breathe properly. They are both burning up, and whenever I try to give them blood they vomit it back up. Neither one can sleep well, nor can they sit up, les move around." "When did these start?" "When Dakota came back. She and Jeff got into a fight so she left. When she came back, they both fell ill and have been since then." "I can not help this. You need to get them together, because only together can they live. Without each other, they will perish. If they feed off of each other, if they can be together, no longer as Jeff and Dakota, but as one, then maybe they can heal and recover. But we have no time to lose. If they go apart for more than five days, then all is lost and they will both die." "Then we must hurry. They have been apart for a little over four days." Edge walked out the door, followed by Sebastian. Edge looked at the sleeping Dakota. Her face was pale, more pale then it should be. She groaned in pain when Edge lifted her and the sheet. He looked at the empty bed. The sheets were soaked in blood. "Matt, can you clean this room up?" Matt nodded and got to work. Amarice and Sebastian followed Edge with Dakota into Jeff’s room. He placed Dakota next to Jeff and watched. The two lay there. Edge lifted Jeff’s arm and draped it over Dakota. Jeff opened his eyes and looked. He saw Dakota and then looked at Edge questioningly. Edge motioned to him to bite his wrist and allow Dakota to feed. Jeff shook his head. "If not then she will die." Edge, Amarice and Sebastian left the room just as Jeff bit into his wrist.
