When she walked in the house, the entire family was sitting on the couch waiting for her. Everybody was there except for Jeff. She received smiles from everybody who asked her if she was okay. She nodded and informed them that she was going to go out clubbing tonight if anyone wanted to join her. They said to give them an hour to get ready. She nodded and headed up the stairs. She knocked on Jeff’s door and went in. "Why?" Jeff asked her. She looked at him bewildered. "Why what?" she asked back. "Why did you run off, why did you scare me?" "Me? Scare you? How?" "I didn’t know where you were." "And you have to know where I am every second of the day? Do I have to ask you for permission to go to the bathroom as well?" she asked raising her voice. "No, but it would be nice to know where you are so that we could find you in case you got hurt." "Since when do you care if I got hurt?" she asked him accusingly. "I always care. If I didn’t then I wouldn’t have gotten so upset when you got staked or when that man tried to jump us. I know that something is wrong Dakota, or else you wouldn’t be in the condition you are in right now." "Condition? What condition?" "Sensitivity to sunlight, not feeding enough, making a mess of yourself, sulking around the house, pale skin. Those are not how you used to be before you met that boy Mike." "Mike?! You think that Mike is the cause of this? How could you? I had friends in my mortal life that meant a lot to me. He informed me that my mother was murdered. Murdered. by a man who wants me dead as well. Can you understand what that might feel like? My world can’t revolve around us. I have other issues to worry about. I have to avenge my mother. I have to see my brother again. You have your brother to keep you company, somebody you know well and love. I have nobody." Jeff looked at her with eyes that were rimmed with tears. Her eyes were equally as wet. "Things were not supposed to turn out like this. You were not supposed to remember friends from your mortal life. Mike should not hold power of you anymore. He is a hunter, you must remember that." Dakota looked at him, eyes flaring. "Jeff, just because you feel insecure about yourself and have no friends doesn’t mean that you have to take it out on me." Jeff rose from his seat and stalked over to Dakota. "How dare you Jeff, how dare you. Why are you doing this to me? What did I ever do to hurt you? I never hurt you. Why don’t you love me Jeff?" Jeff became enraged at this and raised his hand to Dakota and struck her across the face. Dakota’s eyes flared as she ran out the door crying. Matt and Edge felt a disturbance and watched Dakota run down the hall. When Edge poked his head into her room, she was gone. Edge ran into Jeff’s room to find him lying on the floor staring at his feet. "What was that all about?" Edge asked him. Jeff shook his head whispering, "I hit her, I hit her." "YOU DID WHAT?" Edge screamed in rage, "How could you?" He did not wait for an answer, instead he ran down the hall and watched Dakota race off on her bike. Edge followed on his bike, but lost her once she reached the city. Edge sped back to the house and informed Gangrel of what had happened. Gangrel opened his mind to call for her, but she did not respond. Gangrel cursed under his breath and went to the library to ponder what he was going to do.
