She looked up, across the table to the once empty chair, watching Raven gazing back at her, blank faced. How can this be? She thought to herself. Ravens dead. There was no way he could’ve come back. But why was he there? Why was she dreaming of him? Of this?

Raven licked his lips gently, running his finger down the neck of a chilled wine glass in front of him. "I’m glad you decided to come tonight Gabrielle..."

Gabrielle opened her mouth to speak, but found no words, instead she just watched him. His reaction, his posture, his attitude. Anything that would help her figure out just what in the hell was going on.

Raven raised his arm, signalling the waiter over as he settled deeper into his chair. "I know you’ve got alot of questions" Raven began, interrupting her thoughts once again. "And I’ll explain everything soon, but first, we should have a drink." He paused briefly as the waiter filled both their glasses. "It’s Chartreuse." Raven told her. "It is your favourite, isn’t it?"

Gabrielle stared at the emptiness in his face as he downed the cold drink in one single swig. She opened her mouth, managing this time, to speak. "Yes" she muttered softly. "But how did you..."

Raven poured himself another glass, looking up at her before she could finish. "There’s alot I know about you Gabrielle."

"How could you possible know anything about me?"

"I know all there is to know. Everything you say, dream of, or even dare to think." He scratched at his coarse beard, clearing his throat to continue. "At one time, we were closer than any two people could be. Even closer than you are with Edge now…"

Gabrielle watched his every movement, every breath. Unable to take it all in. She didn’t want to allow any of what Raven was saying to have an effect on her or her hatred for him. But deep down, where she had buried all her feelings for her other love before Edge… she knew what Raven was saying was true.

When Edge first found her and brought her to his home, Gabrielle knew then that she was leaving something important behind her, but quickly learned never to speak of her previous life around Edge or his brother. Their jealousy frequently worried her, unsure of what they might do next if they ever found the one who had taken her devotion.

She often had dreams about what she had left behind, and knew there was another, which loved her more than Edge could ever imagine. And Gabrielle knew that one day… they would be together again.

Why was she having these feelings now? She never felt anything but disgust for him. But she found herself captivated by his eyes, the eyes she knew to trust with her life.

"But how…" she hesitated, not knowing how to explain herself to him. How she had lived for all these years hating him, and wishing he were dead.

"I will explain everything in due time, but for now we must celebrate."

"Celebrate what?" she muttered softly.

Raven picked up her glass, handing it to her. "You. Us. Finding our way back to each other. I’ve waited patiently for many years for you to remember it all."

"How?" Gabrielle managed to ask. "How did this all happen? Why didn’t I remember anything?"

Raven took a deep breath, setting down his glass once again. "They took you from me, Edge and Christian. We had this hatred that you know of all to well and they knew that the one thing they could take from me that would mean anything would be you. So they came one day, shortly after I had turned you. You were still asleep when it happened, and too weak to remember anything." He stopped for a second, watching her reaction to make sure it was ok to continue.

Gabrielle felt her eyes begin to water. How could this have happened? How could this many years go by and no one ever bother to tell her? She wiped the tears that had begun to form down her cheeks and looked back up to face Raven. "Why can’t I remember any of it?"

"They brainwashed you. Told you only things they wanted you to know. That’s why you were never to come after me yourself. They were all afraid of what might happen and that you might dredge up the past and then leave them. Gangrel found out of it all afterwards."

Gangrel? She thought to herself. That’s a name she hadn’t heard in a long time. Gangrel was their sire… or at least who she believed he was. Edge and Christian had killed Gangrel violently one night, telling her that he had turned evil and tried to kill them. She cried for weeks afterwards but knew that Edge and Christian were getting more angry with each day, so she learned to keep it all to herself.

"They killed Gangrel?"

Raven nodded. "He found out of what had happened and wanted to tell you everything, so they killed him. They had already began to love you as their own and couldn’t bare to loose you."

Gabrielle wiped away the last of her tears, taking in a deep breath. This was all too much for her but she was glad it had finally come out. So much pain had occurred over all these years from all the lies and deceit. How could they have killed Gangrel? He was like a father to them all and made them what they are today. Gabrielle looked around feeling uneasy at her surroundings. She could feel everyone’s eyes on her, watching her and talking…whispering about them. She wanted to hear more, hear everything that had happened, but not there, not with everyone watching.

"I can’t stay here." She whispered to him starting to get up.

Raven dropped his napkin on the table and got up to join her. "I understand. I know a place where we can go."
