Gabrielle heard the music chiming in the background as she walked down the dim narrow hallway, it almost consuming her. The melody sounded familiar to her, almost welcoming. It was something she had defiantly heard before, she just couldn’t pinpoint where. Gabrielle stopped, noticing the grand oak doorway only a few feet away, its frame illuminated by light. She took a deep breath, feeling her stomach rumbling inside her before she continued her pace down the hall.

How did she get there? Where was she? So many thoughts rushed through her head as she stopped in front of the mysterious doorway. She took one last look around before grabbing the doorknob, turning it cautiously. She didn’t know what was on the other end, and knew that whatever it was, she wouldn’t be harmed.

Gabrielle took a step inside, letting the wooden door close gracefully behind her. She roamed deeper inside, taking a look at her surroundings. The massive room was overflowing with people, all too busy in their own lives to see that Gabrielle had even intruded. She looked around at all the people, each one richer than the next as she delved in further. This place hadn’t seemed at all familiar to her once inside. But there was something, something in there that made her feel wanted, made her feel like there was a reason she was there.

She turned quickly, feeling a soft tapping on her shoulder. "Gabrielle, you’ve finally arrived." A waiter stood in front of her, smiling warmly. She glanced at him for a second as he took off her thin jacket, draping it delicately across his arm.

"How do you know my name?" she asked slowly, still bewildered to the situation.

He laughed, grabbing a menu from the counter beside him, leading her further into the strange environment. "You’re always the kidder... your table is right this way."

He directed her to a peaceful area in the back, away from all the noise and clutters of people, pulling out her chair.

Gabrielle reluctantly sat down as the waiter handed her a menu. "I’ll be back in a few minutes." he informed her taking a few steps back. She took a look to either side of her. Watching the band onstage playing the elegant classical piece made her feel a little more comfortable, almost at home.

This place, whatever it was, was all too much. Too much for her little world with Edge and Christian. Too much for her world of killing and bloodshed. She looked over, catching a glimpse of herself in the golden candleholder in front of her. She didn’t belong there, that was for sure. What would all these people think if they knew what she was? Knew what she did? Or even what she came from? They wouldn’t welcome her with open arms that’s for sure. Gabrielle was different from all of them, yes, but in her own way, she knew she belonged. She ran her hand through her dark locks and almost as fast as she saw her reflection, another one gazed back at her, changing her almost instantly.

Gabrielle looked down at herself, overwhelmed at the exquisite gown that she now wore, the dark silken fabric cascading down her long thin legs. She touched the fabric between her fingers, thinking it was all a joke, but feeling the delicate material under her touch, she realized, it wasn’t. Gabrielle closed her eyes, taking in a deep breath. Any minute now, she would wake up and laugh at herself forever imagining such a thing. She could never see herself living like this, no matter how hard she tried. She opened her eyes nervously; first one than the other, realizing that she was still there. Maybe it was all in her mind, she thought. She touched her silken gloves to her face. Gleaming gold and diamonds dripped down from around Gabrielle’s neck and ears, shining magically in

the candlelight. She looked around one last time, watching the waiter that had escorted her to her table scurrying to the back. Everyone was having such a great time around her, and it was more than obvious to herself that she didn’t belong there.

Gabrielle was about to get up to leave when she heard a voice that was all too familiar to her, interrupting her thoughts. "You look beautiful tonight."
