Gabrielle watched him as she lifted the covers off her body, calmly sliding out of bed. She stood there for a second and when she was satisfied that Raven was asleep, grabbed her clothes and left.
The Black Out was pretty packed that night, especially for it only being after 6. She had to find Spider, and knew she’d be there. As much as Raven had told her, and as much as he filled her in about her life, there was still something missing. There was something he wasn’t telling her and she didn’t understand why. She knew deep down that some way, Spider would tell her. Gabrielle knew that Spider and Kael loved nothing more than to add a little confusion and torment into people’s lives, and this was their perfect chance. If she would’ve stayed in the bathroom longer, would Spider have told her more? She shook her thoughts away. No need thinking about it now, it was over and done with. But one question still lingered, why was Raven holding this all in? She trusted Raven, a little less now but nevertheless she trusted him. Trusted him with her life and so much more, and he knew this… so why was he not letting her in?
Kael and Spider sat at their booth hidden from everyone, the loud music engulfing them both. Spider finished off her martini, holding out the olive for Kael. He smiled devilishly as he bit at the olive slowly, taking his time to suck on the tip of her fingers. Spider watched as Kaels eyes went from excitement to annoyance and turned to see Gabrielle standing at their table. Spider rolled her eyes turning her attention back to Kael.
"I have to talk to you…" Gabrielle stammered trying to gain Spiders attention.
"I’m busy," Spider told her, not taking her eyes off Kael. "Come back later."
"I can’t" she pestered, this time a bit louder. "We have to talk now."
Spider turned again to face her, to tell her again to get lost when she was faced with a fistful of 20’s. "I’ll pay you…"
Spider pushed Kael off of her, making room in the booth for Gabrielle. "Looks like I just became available."
Kael watched as Gabrielle handed Spider the money, counting it slowly. "Um hello…" Kael argued, looking in Gabrielle’s direction. "Remember me? I was here first, so sod off."
Spider ignored Kaels angered words, counting up the last of her bills. "Kael be a dear and go get yourself a drink… leave us girls to talk."
"I’m not thirsty," Kael told them matter-of-factly. "I think I’ll sit here and join in the chat."
Spider shook her head pulling out a few $20 bills, handing them to Kael. "Leave now and when we get home, we can try out those handcuffs you brought."
Kael grinned, edging his way out of the booth. He made his way out to the bar, sitting at a close stool so he watch them.
Spider waved her empty martini glass in the air, and turned her attention back to Gabrielle when the waiter nodded in her direction. "Well now, where do you wanna start?"
"What did you mean before when you said that I didn’t know what was going on?"
"I was just making small talk," she surveyed Gabrielles blank stare. "Oh come on, being with Raven for this long you’re bound to have come up with it sooner or later."
"Come up with what?"
"Everything. Why he is the way he is, why he never lets you out alone" she looked at Gabrielle strangely, feeling a little uneasy. "Which you’re doing now…"
"He’s sleeping" Gabrielle reassured her. "I came on my own. Do you know what happened to me… before?" Spider nodded and she continued. "Who was I? Where did I come from?"
"From here, out in the burbs. You had a typical life, high school, cheerleading…"
"Raven didn’t turn me?" Gabrielle cut in quickly.
Spider laughed, grabbing her fresh martini from the waiter. "Oh god no… he just sorta found you afterwards."
"Then who did?"
Spider took a sip of her drink. She didn’t want to go into full detail cause she knew that Gabrielle wouldn’t remember any of it. She looked over at Kael while she thought of what to say. She couldn’t tell her about Edge cause she didn’t know how much of him Gabrielle remembered, so for now, she took things slow. "It was someone who Raven had known. Raven felt that he wasn’t treating you right so he took you from that world."
"Why don’t I remember any of this?" Gabrielle whispered, grabbing at a paper napkin. "This all sounds so new to me. Who was he? Who created me?"
Spider stayed quiet, sipping on her martini. Gabrielle reached into her pocket, placing a fifty-dollar bill in front of her. "Who?"
Spider placed her finger on the bill, holding it there for a few seconds before sliding it back to Gabrielle. "There are some things you’re not ready for?"
"But I am…"
"Trust me, you’re not," Spider cut in. "But when you are, I’ll tell you everything."
Gabrielle pushed her way out of the booth angrily. This was a huge waste of time. She knew nothing more now then she did before she got there. She would have to find out on her own what was going on and hoped it would be soon. She couldn’t live with the secrets anymore and knew that sooner or later she would have to drag the secrets out one-way or another.
She hurried though the crowd, weaving through everyone as they passed. She would have to get home before Raven woke. She wasn’t in the mood for another lecture.
Christian entered the Black Out focusing his eyes on the crowd, trying to find Kael. He held onto his jacket pocket as he walked through the crowd to find him. It had taken him long enough to put together Kaels payoff, he wasn’t about to loose it now.
He stopped suddenly, almost loosing his balance when Gabrielle came crashing into him. She looked up to apologize to the blond man but stopped, starring into his eyes. Christian tried to hurry past her but she grabbed his jacket, pulling him to face her again.
She stared at him for another second, taking in his features. "I know you."
