Kael stroked at her hair with his free hand trying not to be recognized as he observed his next snack. A college student, mid 20’s and very clean cut. Kael didn’t like the harmless ones. He liked more of a challenge, wanted to be provoked, so that when the inevitable time came, he could enjoy his meal with the satisfaction that he had earned this one. But in this day in age, in this particular bar… there was not much to choose from.
He watched hungrily as the male walked to the other end of the bar to order another drink.
"Come on…" Kael urged under his breath. He could feel his stomach rumbling inside and didn’t know how long he could control himself.
Spider rolled her eyes, slapping away his hand. He gave her a defiant stare before turning his attention back to the task at hand.
"How much longer are we going to be here?" Spider pestered swirling her straw in her empty glass. "This place is so dead."
Kael glared at her once again, this time scaring her a little. "You will be too if you don’t bleeding shut your trap. Gimme a minute," He focused back on the male who had just put on his jacket. Kael smiled, licking at his fangs. "This will only take a minute…"
Kael picked up his pace as he followed the college student out into the tranquil night. He hadn’t fed since the night before and it was beginning to take its toll on him.
They walked down the street as Kael saw his morsel heading into the alley. All was quiet but he could hear the young mans footsteps echoing in his head, then as quickly as they started… they stopped.
He could smell the fear in the air as he neared the alley. The bittersweet aroma of panic that consumed him whenever he would make a new kill. To Kael it was like an aphrodisiac.
Kael felt empty as he entered the alleyway. He sensed no more fear… no worry… no nothing.
He heard a faint chuckle as he walked in further. He saw the young man he was following almost instantaneously. His neck was ripped open, and part of his face encaved.
Kael and Spider stepped away of the bloody mess as a figure approached then from the darkness, laughing outrageously.
Gabrielle stepped out from the shadows, revealing herself to both Kael and Spider.
Kael huffed under his breath as he lit a cigarette, "Well, look what the bloody cat drug out." He exhaled a long puff of smoke, handing his cigarette to Spider. "Haven’t seen you and your merry band of poofs for ages." Neither Kael nor Spider had seen Gabrielle, Edge or Christian in a little over 3 months. They never went more than a few days without running into at least one of them, trying to ruin his good time, but in the last few months it was like they had all fallen off the face of the earth. He liked it actually. He liked more that he would’ve ever imagined. If he knew life was this good, he would’ve killed them all a long time ago.
He smiled hungrily as he headed over to her, whispering in her ear. "I was beginning to like it." …She beamed wickedly as she licked at one of her bloody fingers. "Care for a taste?"
Kael thought about it for a moment, gazing at the hot cherry blood gradually trickle down her hand. He shook away his thought immediately. He could feel Spiders eyes burning in the back of his head just waiting on his response. "Sorry Gabs," he teased, "Unlike your 2 little boys, I don’t go for sloppy seconds."
Kael waited for a second, then felt Spiders hand entwine his. She smiled as she slid the half burned cigarette into his mouth. He was happy with himself and his reply, and he could tell Spider was also. This would definitely score him points later on when they get home.
He could feel Spiders fingers tickling the inside of his palm, as he looked down at her. He knew she was ready to go home… and at this point, so was he.
"Well then…" he started nervously, "If that’s all, then we’ll be going now. And just for the record, play by the rules." He stopped to get her reaction, but when he saw that she still smiling he continued. "Look, you stalk it, you get to kill it. That’s just how it goes, I didn’t make up the rules."
Spider grabbed Kaels arm impatiently and began pulling him away… "Ok, yea. We’re leaving now, Buh bye!"
Kael flung his arm around her waist, giving Gabrielle one last look before turning to walk away. He raised one arm in the air, waving to her as they turned the corner.
Gabrielle rolled the kink out of her neck, hearing her bone snap. She smiled to herself as she licked the last of the blood off her hands, heading back to the body. "Was it as good for you as it was for me?" She crouched over him, swatting away a rat who had come by to pick at the leftovers. "You can have him when I’m done," she argued scaring it away.
She brushed the mans hair back with her fingers. "You’re my first in a very long time," she smiled. "You’ll always be special to me." She grabbed his hand, feeling the warmth starting to die away. She frowned, flipping the body onto his stomach. She dug her small hands into his back pocket and pulled out his wallet. She fumbled through it pulling out what little cash he had. She moaned angrily as she looked through the rest of it, finding it bare except for an outdated library card. "Stu Henley… Well Stu, I can see why you’re single. 13 dollars and a bus token?" She chucked the wallet down and grabbed at his hand again, jerking off his class ring. "At least this will be worth something." Gabrielle tried on the ring. It was obviously too big for her, but she knew who’d like it. She examined it, staring at the ruby stone, before she put it in her pocket.
Gabrielle got up, patting the dirt off her pants, and gave Stu one last look. "Well Stu, It’s been a time… a shitty time… but a time." She headed out the alley, smiling. She hadn’t felt that good in a long time. Now to go home, and see Raven.
