"I could ask you the same thing," she scowled angrily, approaching the cage eyeing one, then the other. "I could ask both of you…"
Christian watched her, really watched her for the first time in months. He was doing this all for himself, for the both of them and had never taken the time to think about Gabrielle’s feelings. He wanted her to love him, to be with him, at any cost. Even if it meant lying to her for the rest of their immortal lives. He knew it wasn’t right, but he also knew that she would not be with him if she knew everything that happened and everything he’d done. He wanted to explain to her that he had done it all for her but judging by the expression on her face it would only make her angrier.
He ran his hand through his hair disappointedly trying to think of something that would make this right. Why did he do this? Why did Gabrielle have to love his brother and not him? And why was he so selfish that he had to play with her life this way? He knew all the questions but had no answer to any of them.
Christian looked deeply into her eyes, trying to make her realize he had done it all for them. He reached through the bars to stroke her face, the face he loved, and stepped back sadly when she flinched from his touch. "Gabrielle…" Christian hesitated nervously. "You have to get me out of here… Kael… he threw me in here…"
Gabrielle nodded, Ravens laughter echoing the small cell. He scratched his beard, heading to the back of the cage to leave Christian to explain it all to Gabrielle and watch in amusement.
"… And Raven?" she asked Christian.
Raven rested against the back brick wall, smiling down at her. "I’m just along for the ride."
"So you two were plotting this from the beginning?"
Christian neared the bars as much as he could, aching for her inside. "Gabrielle, no…"
Gabrielle cut him off, stepping up to face him. "Don’t lie to me!" she yelled.
Christian stepped back once again, shocked at her rage. He had never seen her like this before. Not in all the years he’d known her had he ever seen her this angry. There was nothing on her face but fury and when she looked at him, all he saw was loathing in her eyes.
"I want to know the truth," Gabrielle continued, making Christian face her. "I want to know all of it, and I want to hear it from your mouth."
"Gabrielle, I love you…"
"NO! I want to hear what you did!"
He stared at her cold eyes, not knowing where to start. He thought of everything that had gone on within the last months, and knew there was no way to redeem himself. "Gabrielle… I…"
Christian stopped, turning to face Spider, he laughter breaking his concentration. "What’s the matter Christian? Cat got your tongue?"
"SHUT UP!" Christian seethed, gripping the bars angrily for a moment. "This is all your fault!"
"No this is your fault," Gabrielle cleared up loudly. "You started all this, you lied to me, and you took me from everything I knew. She is the only one who ever bothered to tell me the truth in all this."
"I did it for you…" Christian pleaded, his eyes welling up with tears. "I did it for us, it wasn’t suppose to end this way. I never meant it to go this far."
"And which way was it suppose to end?"
"We were suppose to be together… I just wanted to be with you." Christian wiped away his tears with his shirtsleeve, trying to swallow down all the emotions that were dying to burst out.
"You wanted to be with me?" She asked angrily repeating his words. "So you send me off to Raven? And then you pretend you don’t know what’s going on?"
"Trusting Raven was a mistake," he told her honestly. "It all was."
"How much did you pay him?"
"Gabrielle…"
"HOW MUCH?"
Christian looked at her face, feeling all the guilt in his as he paced the cell. He stopped in front of her, too afraid to face her. "A thousand a week…"
"A thousand a week?" Kael repeated even louder, catching a glimpse of Spiders reaction. "Bloody hell! We shoulda gouged him for more."
Gabrielle’s eyes began to well up with tears, thinking about her life for the past few months and the life she had before this all. How she never knew what was going on was beyond her. She felt so stupid. She felt betrayed by the people she cared most about in the world, by the only ones who seemingly seemed t care about her. "And how much of that money did you pay Raven to sleep with me?" She smiled as she saw Christians puzzled look questioning her. She laughed, whipping at her tears heatedly. "Oh you didn’t know? You didn’t know that we had sex practically every night since the first day I came here? He didn’t tell you about that?" Gabrielle questioned irately. "Wasn’t that part of the payoff?"
Christian turned and faced Raven, his smile widening in the dark corner. Christian balled his fists, lunging at Raven. He wrapped his hands tightly around Ravens neck, squeezing them forcefully. "You son of a bitch!" Christian roared. "I’ll kill you!"
Kael stepping up to the bars to get a better look. "There you go," he laughed. "Now things are getting good."
Christian turned, lunging at Kael, gripping the bars. "When I get out of here, I’m going to kill you Kael." Christian let go, rubbing his hands together to stop the burning. He clenched his teeth, never taking his eyes off Kael. "I swear I’m going to kill you…"
Gabrielle grabbed Kaels jacket, pulling him back to get Christians full attention. "You’re going to kill him?" she asked. "Like you killed your brother?"
Christian opened his mouth to speak but found no explanation.
"When were you going to tell me about Edge?" Before or after you killed him?"
Christian raked his hands over his eyes, feeling his tears start up amongst all the anger. "I never meant to…" he stopped, choosing his words carefully. "Things just went too far. I did it cause I love you."
"No you don’t or you would have never let it get this far."
"Look at you two," Raven argued pacing the cell. "I love you. You lied to me. You both make me sick. You’re weak and stupid and you deserve whatever heartaches you get."
Gabrielle headed closer to Raven, watching his demeanour. "What about you? What about Raven? You did this all for a few bucks. You ruined people’s lives for money. Now you’re going to rot here with the only other person I hate as much as you. Well, this is the end?"
"This isn’t an ending," Raven laughed circling the cage again. "An ending is me getting out of here and gutting all 4 of you." He looked up at Kael, eyeing him up and down. "I know why Gabrielle pissed and everything, but… what’s in it for you? Why risk it all just to help her. I know you guys aren’t friends, so.. What’s the real reason?"
Kael laughed. "Money of course. Don’t know exactly how much though. Whatever you had left I suppose…"
Ravens eyes lit with rage as Kael continued, strolling by the cell. "Your secret stash. The one you had hidden, well Gabrielle found it and," he stopped to face Raven, laughing smugly as he licked his fangs. "It’s all mine." Raven reached through the bars to grab Kael but he strode away from him, taking his place next to Spider again. "Rather a fetching ending don’t you think?"
"Don’t do this Gabrielle," Christian pleaded again. "I’m begging you, don’t do this."
"Did your brother beg when you killed him?" she asked mournfully. Christian backed into the shadows to face all his feelings. All he had done had backfired on him. There was nothing he could do to change the way Gabrielle felt, and nothing he could say to her to make her change her mind about leaving him in there. "Did he?" Gabrielle asked again. She shook her head, angrily looking up to face him. "Well if your not going to tell me, I guess I’ll just have to ask him myself."
Christian shuttered at her words, hearing heavy footsteps echoing down the hall. He looked up, loosing his breath as the image neared the cage. Everything darkened around him, watching the figures eyes glare over his whole body. His blond hair flowed down his shoulder like a golden mane, his fingers entwining in Gabrielle’s. "What’s the matter Christian? Aren’t you even going to say hello to your big brother?"
