Christian opened his mouth to speak but Kael raised the crossbow, quieting him. "I have no problems with shooting you right now, now get in the cage!"
Spider dug the thick metal chains from Kaels jacket pocket and followed Christian to the cage, shutting the gate once he was inside. She pulled the chain through the gate links, fastening it with a large bolt lock.
Christian turned to face Kael, nearing him as much as he could. "What the hell is this man?"
Kael ignored his questions, easing down a bit. Raven laughed, pulling his thick arms thought the bars, gripping them tightly. "You know that as soon as you leave, we’ll be out of here," Raven chuckled, his voice dull and raspy. "Then Spider and I can get back to what we started."
Kael approached Raven, his muscles tightening, his footsteps heavy underneath him. "Somehow I don’t think that’s going to happen," Kael sneered, "What, with you being dead and all."
Spider grabbed onto Kaels arm, pulling him back, away from the cage. There was no telling what Raven could do, even confined like this. She smiled, grabbing the water gun that Kael had hidden there before their plan had begun. She adjusted the nozzle and pulled off its cap, joining her place next to him.
Kael chuckled, taking a few steps back. "You may want to step away from the bars…" He watched as Spider pumped the water gun rapidly, stepping up closer to the enclosed cell. "…It’s holy water."
Raven and Christian jumped at his words, recoiling to the back of the cage, trying to hide from the water shower. She doused the cage, from top to bottom, laughing as they yelled at her, telling her she was crazy. Spider grinned, dropping the empty water gun at her feet as she rubbed her hands on the lining of her jacket. She blew softly on her fingers, glancing disappointedly at Kael for a moment. "The damn gun leaked…"
He came over to her, kissing the tips of her burned fingers, eyeing her devilishly. "I’ll make it all better when we get home."
"You’re not going to get away with this," Christian echoed, breaking his train of thought.
Kael turned his head, watching him as he came within reach of Christian. "I already have." Christian took another step forward but Kael quickly cut him off. "Ah, ah, not too close. Don’t want to get burned, do you?"
He handed one of his crossbows to Spider, both of them aiming their weapons intently at their captives.
Christian paced the cage angrily, now realizing his fate. "I can’t believe I paid you! I can’t believe I trusted you! God, I’m so stupid!"
Kael only nodded. "No argument there."
"I should have killed you when I had the chance!" Christian continued, getting louder and louder by the minute.
Kael wrapped his free arm around Spider protectively, turning his attention to a silent Raven. He was quiet, too quiet. He stood at the back of the cell, watching Spiders every movement. "Get a good look while you can," Kael warned, pulling her closer. "Pretty soon you won’t be seeing much of anything."
Raven only groaned angrily, moving to the other end of the cage, away from all of them. "You think you’re so smart," Raven pointed out, his eyes focusing from one to the other. "There’s a pothole grid right above us, I can easily…"
"Ya see, I thought about that too…" Kael sneered happily, cutting him in mid sentence. "It was doused on holy water before we got here," he watched Ravens face enrage, and only smiled as he continued. "And just in case you decided to use Christians head to try to bash it open after we’ve left, we had some guy park his van right over it." Kael scoffed enjoyfully. "Funny what someone will do for 20 bucks…"
Raven searched his eyes and knew he wasn’t bluffing. All the anger inside him forced its way out as he lunged in Kaels direction, gripping the wet bars, his fangs protruding. "Let me out of here!"
Spider took a step towards Raven, staying far enough out of his reach. She turned to Kael, snickering as they watched smoke starting to fizzle under his palms. He let go, heading to the back of the cell "He looks mad…" she joked.
"That he does…"
"I can’t wait till this is all over," she told Kael. "I need to get home. I need to take a shower. Damn, I need a beer."
Raven remained in the corner, shielded by shadows. "I shower won’t get me off of you," Raven told her. "No matter how hard you try, or how hard Kael tries to make you forget… you won’t"
His eyes met with Kaels and he grinned. Kael stalked towards the cage; his hands gripped the crossbow tighter, his skin turning white. Spider took hold of his arm, spinning him to face her. "He’s just trying to get you angry…"
"I know love," he nodded. "I wasn’t going to kill him, not just yet. I was just going to shoot him in the mouth, cause maybe an arrow through the throat would make him shut his yap."
"Will you two shut the hell up!" Christian yelled turning to face Raven. "I’m sick and tired of hearing you two yelling!" He neared the bars, trying to grab Kaels attention. "Kael, I paid you. We had a deal. I stood up to my end. You can’t do this, not when I’m this close. I’m supposed to be meeting Gabrielle; you can’t leave me in here. She can’t see me with you guys." He tried to make Kael see his point. He tried everything to get himself out of there, to stay alive. He had to see Gabrielle, to be with her. But if she saw him like this, this way, she’d be gone forever. There would be nothing he could say to get him out of it. He turned to Raven. "This is all your fault. If you‘d done everything like I told you to, this would all be over."
He paced the small enclosure, scratching at his head before turning to Kael and Spider once again. "You’re mad at Raven, not me. Do whatever you want to him, I don’t care, just let me go…"
"How soon the cookie crumbles…Cant even stick my your partner in crime?" Kael teased, laughing devilishly. "No one’s going anywhere!"
"You have to let me out!" Christian yelled, kicking at the bars. "I can’t stay in here. I have to go see Gabrielle."
Kael nodded, heading to the entrance from which he first emerged. He opened the gate slowly and grinned when the figure came in to join them. "See that’s the best part… We brought Gabrielle to you."
