Gabrielle sat there silently. Looking up every so often to catch a glimpse of Raven. He sat in his chair, motionless as always. She didn’t know how he went hours on end without moving, not even to go outside. And found herself more and more fearful, the longer he’d go.

She didn’t know exactly what she was afraid of. She knew she’d always be safe. Even when Raven was like this, no one could come near there home without him sensing it.

She reached across the filthy ground feeling the cold cement floor beneath her. She caught Raven staring at her from the corner of her eye as she reached for the tattered doll he’d given her when she had first arrived there.

Gabrielle had lived there for months with Raven and a few others of whom Raven had sired. She had no recollection of her time before him, nor did she want to ask. She knew that any talk of this would only make him angry, and that was the last thing she wanted.

She stroked the scruffy hair of the doll; humming a tune to herself as she remembered the day Raven had given it to her. It was a few days after she had arrived. She was feeling sad and alone. When Raven had gotten home that morning he slipped into her room, placing the doll by her pillow. When she had awoken, he told her his story of the night before. How he had gone out to feed, and saw a woman pushing a baby stroller on her way home. He had killed both the mother and baby, drained them of all blood they had. And before he left the scene to come home, took the doll that the baby was once playing. He had told her this story in great detail. Horribly, appalling detail. Right down to how the mother had screamed for freedom for her child. She tried not to think of that night. All she wanted to remember was that Raven got that doll for her because cared for her.

Raven gazed at her, watching as she clutched the doll in her hands.

"Quiet down!" he ordered, clearing his throat roughly. Watching her rock back and forth as she hummed that tune was enough to drive him crazy.

Gabrielle looked up at him quickly, discovering his eyes, burned on hers and only nodded. She knew Raven didn’t like it when she hummed like that, but she couldn’t help it. Sometimes she would just start doing it, not realizing.

Raven grew uneasy, starring at her. Although he could see that she had stopped, he could still hear the tune in her head. He knew she was still thinking of it. That same song as always. He shifted in his chair and waited for her to stop, but she didn’t. She just continued over and over, starting the song from where she left off last.

"DAMMIT!" he yelled, slamming his hand on the arm of his chair. Gabrielle was quickly startled back to reality. Raven wasn’t one to yell, especially at her, so when he did, she listened.

He lay his hands on his head, scratching at his thick curls trying to calm himself down. "Go outside," he whispered hoarsely without even looking up. "Just go get some air."

"Outside?" she thought to herself. She hadn’t been outside by herself in weeks. It had always been with Raven or one of the others. It was hard to go out and hunt when you were with Raven. He’d always want the kill, and usually Gabrielle was stuck with what was left.

She got up calmly. Dropping the doll at her feet as she headed for the iron gate, trying desperately to hide the evil smirk that was trying to force it’s way out. "This was going to be a fun night," Gabrielle thought, laughing to herself.

Ravens head rose slowly as he heard the distant snickering echo its way down the sewer line

He sneered happily as he got up to his feet, heading in the same direction as Gabrielle.
