“Tonight was very nice Jeff,” Gabby remarked, unlinking her arm from Jeff’s. “That movie was scary.”

"I wouldn’t classify Bless the Child as scary. I would, however, classify it as a little on the creepy side." Gabby laughed.

"I suppose you’re right."

"Of course. I am always right." Jeff opened the house door. "Man, it’s quiet," he observed.

"But peaceful. I’m going up to bed," she announced, kissing his cheek.

"All right," Jeff replied. "Goodnight."

"Night." Gabby trod up the stairs. When she closed her door, she saw a box on her bed, tied closed with a silk black ribbon. She sat beside it, lifting it into her lap. Elevating the lid, she peered inside. Her hands shook, and the box clattered to the floor. She opened her mouth to scream, but was silenced by the gag that was placed between her lips. Matt shoved her to the floor while Lily made quick work of tying her arms and legs together. Jeff came racing up the stairs when he heard the clatter. The door flew open.

"Gabby, are you alri...." His voice trailed off as the two figures stood tall, turning to face him. Jeff’s hands started to tremble, and he felt his knees start to shake. "This is a dream...you can’t be here. You’re dead," Jeff said, shaking his head slowly from side to side.

"Jeff, you’re not dreaming," Matt told him.

"But you’re dead. You drown in the lake last summer. Christian told me! You can’t be alive."

"That’s all a lie. We never drown. I guess she never told you. You never told him your little secret Gabby, have you. Well then, why don’t you tell him."

"Tell him what? You two drown in the lake! I don’t have any secrets! And what have you done to Edge?"

"He suffered the same fate we did. Death by those whom he thought were his friends," Lily informed her.

"You killed him? Gabby, tell me what’s going on?"

"I don’t know what they’re talking about. They’re not Lily and Matt. Lily and Matt are dead! They drown in the lake. You two aren’t them!" Matt backhanded her.

"Stop lying. Tell him!" Matt commanded.

"I’M NOT!" Gabby cried out in defence. Jeff looked from Matt and Lily to Gabby, and then back to Matt and Lily.

"Gabrielle, if you won’t tell him, then I will." All eyes turned to face the new voice.

"Christian," Gabby breathed.

"Gabby, please what are they talking about? Tell me what?"

"I...I don’t..." Lily yanked a handful of her hair.

"Tell him." Gabby started to cry.

"Edge and I killed Matt and Lily, last year." Jeff’s face went pale as he stared at her. "I only did it because I love you. Lily and Matt were plotting to kill you." Jeff glanced at Matt.

"Oh, now we both know that’s a lie. You killed Lily because you wanted Jeff all to yourself. You had Edge destroy Matt because he saw what you had done."

"Is this true?" Jeff asked her. She nodded. "Then I do not feel sorry for whatever fate befalls you..." Jeff shut his eyes, looking the other way. He lifted a hand to his face and walked away into the hall. While Christian went out with Jeff, Matt and Lily ended her existence. Lily opened the box with Edge’s remains, adding Gabby to it. She retied the box and handed it to Matt. He took the box and headed out Gabby’s window, climbing down the window porch. A hole waited, and Matt buried the box. He looked up at the window, the silhouettes of his brother and Lily dancing across the white shade. "I can’t believe you’re back."

"I can not stay here. My job is complete. I’m sorry I never got to say goodbye. And I’m sorry I can not do it now." Lily wiped a tear from Jeff’s eye. Her hand drifter across his cheek and she smiled lovingly. "Cry not, my love, for we will be together again. I promise you this." She reached out and held him to her. "Know this, that I shall always love you." She kissed him softly, and then turned to leave. "Christian," she said. He turned to look at her. "Thanks." He smiled. Lily dropped out the window. Jeff watched as his love and his brother disappeared into the darkness.
