Kael and Kendall had found themselves at the ‘Blackout’ a short time later. The Blackout was a popular club/bar that the often frequented when they felt the need to feed. The place was full of yuppie scum, and spoiled rich teenagers that loved to flaunt themselves in front of anyone who’d pay attention.

"Bartender!" Kael yelled from their corner booth, holding his empty shot glass in the air. "Another shot." The Bartender nodded and continued with his work behind the bar, riffling to find the tequila bottle. "Damn that incompetent man" Kael muttered turning to face Kendall, his eyebrows furrowing. "You know one of these days I’m just gonna eat that bastard…That’ll show him!"

Kendall ignored what he was talking about, swirling her straw in her glass frustratedly. "I was this close…" she fumed. "I mean I was this close to killing Gabrielle, and everything was ruined."

"Calm down my pet," Kael scoffed as the bartender came to join them, placing the drink in front of Kael. He rolled his eyes at the bartender before continuing. "If you want something bad enough you can get it."

"And you don’t care I’m doing this?" she asked snuggling in closer to Kael, dropping her head on his broad shoulders. "I mean, I thought they were friends of yours?"

Kael laughed, running one hand through her hair. "Friends? No, we’re acquaintances. Far from friends. But I never really liked them anyway, they never know how to have fun."

A waiter came up to them, interrupting their conversation. He smiled, rummaging through the menus in his hands. "And how are we this evening?" he asked chipperly, a huge grin across his face.

Kael draped one arm around Kendalls shoulders, and turned to face the waiter.

Kael looked the waiter up and down, and scoffed. "I’m absolutely famished."

"Great," he smiled handing both Kendall and Kael dinner menus, before turning to walk away. "Now you just look this over and I’ll be back in about 5 minutes."

Kendall looked around at all the people trying to find the perfect victim. Her hunger had been stirring in the pit of her stomach all day, and the fact that she did not go through with killing Gabrielle didn’t make her feel better.

Kael watched her reaction, a stern looking coming over her as she grazed the faces of everyone in the bar. "I know that sadistic smile anywhere my pet." Kael smiled as he ran one finger down her face, before looking around at the crowd. "Just who exactly have you got in mind?"

She took a sip of her now fading Gin and Tonic, nodding over in the direction of a male in his early 20’s. He was by the bar having a beer and every once in a while would go out to the dance floor, flirting with every pretty woman in site. This one would be fun.

Kael snickered sarcastically. "Well he’s an energetic one, isn’t he?"

Kendall got up, never taking her eyes off him. "Meet me in the alley in 5 minutes," she called over her shoulder to Kael as she turned to walk away. Kael watched as she walked over to her new victim, whispering into his ear. "That poor bastard doesn’t know what he’s in for."

Kael ordered a few more drinks, polishing each one clean before heading to the next.

Outside, Kendall led the young male down the alley, softly pushing him against the wall. "Yeah baby," the male slurred between ill-fated burps. "I like it rough."

Kaels insides turned as the hunger took her over, her fangs forcing their way out. "You don’t know how rough you go it," she growled, grabbing a handful of hair, pulling his head back. She sunk her fangs into his soft neck, felling the warm blood finding it’s way into her body. She sucked on his neck forcefully, trying to take all of him as he thrashed about trying to get free.

She looked up, hearing a soft clapping off in the distance. "Bravo…" Kael smiled, coming into view, standing over her in approval. She dropped the weak body, her heart pacing wildly as she pulled Kael in, kissing him hungrily.

"Mmm" Kael muttered licking the loose blood droplet on her lower lip, "I love the taste of death." Kael snickered, looking down at the young male, trying to drag his limp body away from them, crying in pain. A look of shock came over Kaels face, "He’s still kicking…well you know what they say, want not, waste not." He grabbed the male by his color and pulled him up to face him, before sinking in his fangs, finishing him off.

Raven sat in his chair. A thick cloud of smoke illuminated him as he sat there in his own shadows, aware of the world and the goings on around him. He looked over towards the gate that led into his world, hearing familiar laughter. "You did good tonight my child."

Kael and Kendall emerged to him through the darkness. Kendall took off her long coat, dropping it on a chair as she went to Raven, sitting down on the floor by his feet. "But I didn’t kill her Raven. I didn’t get the job done."

"No you didn’t" he repeated, his voice raspy. "But you were smart about it, about every move you made. You brought along Kael to distract Edge and Christian, and were gonna take on Gabrielle alone. That took cunning. It was only a formality that she didn’t die…that none of them did." He placed one hand on her shoulder, patting it gently. "Soon you will be ready."

"Ready for what?" she asked him, curious as to the answer. Raven had always talked about the future. About how someday he would tell her all she needed to know. About them, about his previous life, about why she was created. It just felt as though ‘someday’ never came.

"I will tell you when the time is right. All in due time my child…" he told her, closing his eyes, resting his head back on the wooden setting of his chair. "But for now, get some rest, we’ve got a long night tomorrow."
