Edge and Raven reluctantly separated from each other, looking towards Kael. "Yes… well now, everyone better just hold it right there…until I think of something." Gabrielle rushed to Edge’s side, helping him keep his balance as she wrapped her arms around him tightly, not wanting to let him go. "I’m glad you could join the party…" Raven laughed tossing his messy curls out of his face.
Kael smiled smugly towards Raven as his eyes frantically searched the room for Kendall. "Spider?" he called out loudly. "Spider where are you?" "What are you doing here Kael?" Raven snarled angrily. "I told you it was none of your business."
"And I told you I was bloody well coming, didn’t I?" Kael asked waving the crossbow towards him. "So you came here anyway. I couldn’t help but crash the party."
Raven looked over towards Edge and Gabrielle, shooting Kael a disgruntled look.
"You were suppose to get rid of her."
"Right…" Kael answered pretending as if he were thinking. "I’ve changed my mind…SPIDER!?" he called out again.
Kendall walked out of the kitchen slowly, seeing everyone around her. What was going on? She nervously went to Ravens side, looking at him for answers, then saw Kael. "Kael, what are you doing here?" she asked him. He let out a soft breath, realizing she was ok. "You know me my love, " Kael smiled. "I could never miss a good blood bath."
Raven looked towards her, smiling, forcing his words into her head. "He’s with them Kendall. He’s turned his back on our side."
She glanced at Kael again, watching him point the crossbow towards Raven. Why would he be doing that? Why would he want to shoot Raven? She didn’t understand that? Were Ravens words right? Was he turning on them? "What’s with the crossbow Kael? Why are you pointing it at Raven?" she slowly asked him, searching his face for any sign of betrayal.
Kael took a step towards her. "It’s just a bargaining chip till I can get us out of here in one piece."
"He stopped me from killing Edge," Ravens words told her. "He’s turned his back on us and has sided with them. Just look at him. He was about to kill me before you walked in."
She stared blank faced at Kael as if she had never known him. Never known what they shared. Kael stared back at her, confused. "Spider?" he repeated, trying to get through to her. "Come over here."
"Kendall you’re all I’ve got," Raven voice told her sadly. "You’re my family, help me…help me seek revenge on them."
She closed her eyes, gripping her hands on the trigger as she raised the crossbow, pointing it to Edge’s chest. "That’s it Kendall," Raven coaxed. "Remember all that I’ve told you."
"Spider what are you doing?" Kael asked worriedly, trying to make her face him.
"It’s over."
Edge looked down at Gabrielle, kissing her softly on the forehead before pushing her away towards Kael. Gabrielle fought and screamed at Edge to let her stay but he would never let her get harmed. "Stay away Gabrielle." "I’m not leaving you Edge," she cried, trying to push past Kael, who was holding her out of harms way.
"He must be doing it again," Kael told himself quietly, now starting to realize what was going on. "He must be in her head." Kael stepped up closer to Raven, pointing the crossbow to his face. "I should just kill you right now, you bastard! Then this will all be over."
Raven laughed. "But what will happen to her? Kendall will be so lost in her own world of visions and death, that it would haunt her forever…and she would never be able to be with you again."
Kael was torn between his anger for Raven and his love for Kendall. If he would kill Raven, it would be like killing Kendall also; she would be gone to him forever. But he couldn’t let Kendall go through with killing Edge, cause then she would be under Raven hold for all eternity.
"Kendall it’s time," Raven told her. "Just do it."
Kendall stood there, gripping the crossbow tighter in her hands hearing Ravens words fill every part of her head. Kael walked up to her, placing his mouth by her ear. "Spider listen to me," he whispered sweetly. Ravens in your head. He’s telling you to do this, to do all of this. He wants you to do his dirty work. Don’t buy into him. You’re stronger than him." He ran his hand down her shoulder towards her hand. "Just give me the crossbow." She closed her eyes, a single tear running down her cheeks, being forced to choose sides with the 2 men she loved more than anything.
"Don’t listen to him," Raven called out to her. "He’ll say anything to get you on his side. He doesn’t love you like I do."
Kael slid his finger down her jawline, softly forcing her to look at him. "Don’t believe what he’s telling you Spider. Don’t believe any of it." Kendall smiled back at him. Kael smiled happily, seeing the twisted gleam in her eye that he loved so much. "Yes it’s me," Kael muttered to her. "Come with me, we’ll leave here, go someplace safe."
"Kael forget it," Raven growled at him. "She will always be mine!" Raven laughed, feeling accomplished in how little it took him to overpower her. Kendall closed her eyes, raising the gun higher to Edge, remembering the laugh in the back of her head. His laugh. It was infiltrated her dreams several occasions. It haunted her day and night, almost like possessing her. Whenever she’d see killing in her dreams, Raven was there, laughing. That laugh…Ravens laugh! Another tear slid down her cheek. Kael took a deep breath resting his forehead on hers, stepping up closer to her. There was not much more he could do. Raven was obviously stronger than they all were. Kael closed his eyes, kissing her cheek softly. "I love you Spider." He whispered to her, as if, almost believing it would be his last chance to tell her.
Love? That wasn’t a word she knew too often. Hearing Ravens laugh still inside her, she knew what she had to do.
"Goodbye…" she whispered, turning the crossbow to face Raven. She fired the arrow before Raven could say a word. The arrow pierced his heart. Raven let out a bellowing shriek as he stumbled backwards, falling out the big picture window that he had bust in earlier that night.
Gabrielle ran to Edge side, holding him close. It was all over. Tears ran down Kendalls face, as Kael grabbed the crossbow from her hands, dropping it at his feet. She walked over to the window, tracing her hand down the frame. What has she done? She killed Raven. The first person who had ever really cared about her.
Christian got himself to his feet, dragging his way to Edge and Gabrielle.
"You’re alive," Gabrielle cried, wrapping her arms around his neck. Kael stood behind Kendall, his hands on her shoulders. He kissed the back of her neck softly as she looked out the window to the ground. All she could see was the darkness.
"I thought she killed you," Edge told his brother, wrapping an arm around him quickly. Christian looked over at her. Her and her boyfriend Kael. He smiled before turning back to his brother. "She could’ve killed me. She had the perfect chance…but she didn’t."
"Its ok," Kael soothed pulled her away from the window, taking off his leather jacket, placing it around her shoulders. He nodded at Edge as he led her out of the room. Maybe after all this Kael had a whole new respect for Edge? Only time would tell. But for now they were all glad that this nightmare was finally over.
Off in the distance, there was an image. An image of a man, somewhat amused, as he walked down the middle of the street. Laughing to himself as he dropped a bloody arrow out of his hand, stepping over it with his thick black boots. He laughed. The laugh. It echoed through the night as she man faded into the darkness. His darkness!
