Kendall could hear the fight between Edge and Raven coming from downstairs as she delved deeper into the 2nd floor bedrooms, searching for Christian. She heard a soft creek coming from behind her. She swung backwards, firing her crossbow at the first image she saw. She moaned softly when she saw that what she had shot was only an old doll sitting in the corner. She raced for one of the other bedrooms when she heard Christians footsteps go by.
Kael looked at his watch again. 10:35pm. He impatiently paced in front of Gabrielle, always glancing at the front door. "Maybe they left without you?" Kael whipped around, peering angrily at Gabrielle. "Oh Shut up!" he yelled running his hand through his hair. "They wouldn’t leave without me. They’ll be here soon."
"Try calling my house," Gabrielle suggested.
Kael slid over to her, his face only about an inch away from hers. "What for?" he growled She could tell that whatever patience Kael once had, it was now fading fast. Whatever she said she would have to make sure it didn’t come out the wrong way. "Well if you call my house and Edge or Christian answer, then you know that Raven didn’t get there yet and that they are on the way here," she mumbled scaredly. She watched for Kaels reaction to her suggestion.
Kael thought about it for a moment. Raven had said all along that he had wanted both him and Kendall to do it alone. Raven didn’t want Kael there in the first place but would they really leave without him? Without his help? Of course he would. Raven would turn on anyone in a split second if it meant helping him in any way!
Kael grabbed his cellphone, dialing Edge’s number. "This is not for me, you know," he told her dryly. "I’m just doing this to make you finally shut up."
Edge broke free from Ravens strong grasp, and trying to land in a punch of his own, but Raven blocked it, and in turn backhanded him sending him crashing down on the coffee table. Ravens power was a lot stronger than Edge had remembered. But it had been a long time and now Raven was back with both his strength and his brother. He wondered if he would be even able to stop him. Edge tried to get up, knocking over the end table beside him, sending the ringing phone crashing down to the ground.
Kael pulled the phone away from his ear hearing the crash on the other end.
"What?" Gabrielle asked quickly. "What is it?"
Kael held his finger up towards her, motioned for her to be quiet, but when he heard Ravens growls on the other end, he knew that Raven had betrayed him. But one thing he knew all to well was that Kendall would protect Raven at any cost. Even if it meant her own life. That’s what Raven loved so much about her. She would always be loyal.
He slammed the phone down on the counter, racing to go grab his jacket. "I’m going over there," Kael told her quickly. "I’ll be back later." "Wait!" Gabrielle ordered, stopping him. "What about me?"
"What about you?" Kael argued a bit louder, heading for the front door.
"You can’t just leave me here. If something’s going on I want to be there." Kael stopped for a second, turning to face her. "You really want to come? To watch Raven kill your dear Edge."
Gabrielle glanced at him, trying to get through to him. "Listen if I'm there and things get out of hand, at least you know that Spider won’t die," she told him. "Edge listens to me, I’m the only one who can save her if Edge tries to kill her." Kael thought back to what Raven had told him the night before that it was only between him and Kendall. Would he use Kendall as a shield the first chance he got? Is that why he brought her along?
Kendall walked through the dark upstairs hall looking for Christian. She opened up one of the closet door, pointing her crossbow inside, it was empty. She kicked it closed as commenced down the hall again. Christian peeked through one of the bedroom doors seeing a figure peeking into one of the extra rooms. It was only a mater of time before she found him. He would have to get himself downstairs and there was only one way, through her.
Christian ran down the hall tackling the figure to the wall, struggling for the crossbow. Christian pinned her arms up and was about to attack her fiercely when he looked up at her, recognizing her. She was the girl that he had seen across the street, the one who he had thought about ever since he had been attacked. He hesitated for that moment, and that was all that she needed. She threw him
viciously off of her and lunged for her crossbow. She grabbed it, squeezing at the trigger when she glanced up. Christian
was gone
