‘My Sweet Angelina,
I have not seen you for a fortnight, but I can never forget you. Be outside your house at midnight. I’m coming to see you, and we need freedom, outside your walls. Don’t be afraid. I could never imagine hurting you.
All my Love
Raven’
She had first stared at it in disbelief, then told herself she had to go wherever he was taking her. She had never contemplated sneaking out of the house before, but it was beyond easy. Her mother was a sound sleeper, and so was her sister. The back door made almost no noise, and no one would notice she was gone until lunch. Of course, she didn’t know if she was ever coming back or not. She didn’t know what to expect from Raven. He was waiting in a black jeep. She had for some reason been expecting a motorcycle. But the jeep was fine. Without a word, she climbed in shotgun, and he started it up. ‘Otherside’ by Red Hot Chili Peppers blared out of the speakers. They rode a long time before he started to talk to her.
"I am truly sorry for not coming to see you sooner. I was kept busy. But I’m here now."
"And where are we going? By the way, thank you so much for that Pearl Jam song. I couldn’t find it anywhere." She had to yell over the music, but didn’t want it turned down. Music was life, someone had once told her. And she damn well believed that.
"I don’t know if I should tell you where we’re going…. You might not want to go. But I do think you’ll have fun. You dressed for it too." He said looking over at her. She blushed a little. She had worn a long black skirt, and a burgundy tank top, under a see through black shirt, with long bell sleeves. He was wearing the same thing he had when she had first seen him. Or at least that’s what it looked like, though upon closer inspection, he had a worn out Bush T-shirt on. He noticed she was staring, and stared right back. She looked down.
"Angelina, you aren’t scared of me are you?" She thought about her answer. She really didn’t know the answer.
"To be honest, I don’t know. When you first came to me, I was frightened a little. But as of late, I missed you. That sounds odd. I don’t even know you and I missed you." She laughed a little, forced laughter. "I started to think you were a figment of my imagination when you didn’t come back. But now that you have, I don’t know what to feel." She was drawn to him, but she didn’t know why. She didn’t know him enough to be in love; at least that’s what she thought. But scared of him? That one she didn’t know at all.
"Well, you just seem kind of…I don’t know…edgy tonight." He had stopped the car to talk to her.
"As opposed to every other night?" she said, almost bitterly. He shook his head.
"I know you don’t know me, Angelina, but I think I know you. Well enough to know that something is wrong. Now, would you like to tell me, or are you gonna have a shitty time, and brood all night." He took her hand, and pressed it to her lips, then set it down. She sighed, and looked at him.
"Well, it's just, I find all of this odd. I mean, you come out of nowhere, and just make me feel…well, I’m drawn to you. And I don’t know how, or why, but I am. Except that I don’t know how to react. Whether I should stay with you, or leave and never think about you again. For two weeks, I couldn’t get you off my mind. I didn’t tell anyone. Hell, they would have either think I’d lost it, or went to the police, because this strange man broke into my house, and tried to do god knows what with me. And here you are again, taking me somewhere. I don’t even know where, but that’s not what scares me. The fact that I don’t care where you take me, is what freaks me out. All I want is to be with you, no matter where it is. And that’s all I’ve figured out so far." She sighed again. He stared at her, blinking.
"Wow…. That is amazing. For you to know all this, already." She caught him smiling. He was still smiling as he turned the car back onto the road.
"That's it? That’s all you have to say?" she was somewhat disappointed with his reaction.
"What else can I say? That was more than I asked for. More than I expected." He parked the car. She looked up to see a huge mansion. There were other cars parked in the driveway. It was a party, or at least, that was her first thought.
"Uh, where are we?" she asked, shyly. He got out of the jeep, and came around to help her.
"It's my house." He said, before grabbing her around the waist and lowering her onto the pavement. He led her to the door, pausing and drawing a breath before opening it.
