Kael was the first to hear Gabrielle’s scream. He thought it wasn’t a scream of pain and that it was coming from the room above, where he had last seen her and Edge. But it grew louder and persistent, coming from the open front door. Wait – he thought – why’s the door open?

A second later, Edge felt his skin crawl and heard the blood stilling scream. Groaning and reaching out a hand beside him to clutch Gabrielle, he sprang out of the bed when he felt nothing. Looking frantically around, he bolted down stairs and was met by call at the bottom.

"Where is she?" Edge yelled at him, "What did you do to her?"

"Nothing! I just heard – "

"Bullshit!" Edge said, grabbing Kael’s neck and hauling him up against the wall.

"Edge – She’s – " Kael managed to choke out very little, but gestured out side, where the sun streamed in from the front door. Edge tore his eyes away from Kael and glared outside. A figure was huddled down, collapsed on the stairs, arms flung up in a meek attempt at protection from the blazing sun. It was Gabrielle. Kael stared at Edge, then wasted no time in grabbing the ever -present blanket from the back of the couch in the living room, and tossing it to Edge. He took a deep breath before running outside without a thought, covering himself as best he could. Once outside, he threw the blanket over Gabrielle, roaring in pain as the sun hit his own exposed flesh. He ran inside the house with Gabrielle in his arms, laying her down on the couch before he collapsed on the floor, panting too loud to hear a single name escape her lips before she passed out. But Kael, now kneeling by her side, heard her call out for Christian.

A scream reverberated dully through Christian’s head. It immediately registered as Gabrielle’s scream. She was in pain. Looking briefly at Aspen he grabbed the keys that hung by the door and took the elevator to the parking garage, to go out and help Gabrielle.

Aspen heard him leave and snuck out after, grabbing her own keys and racing down the stairs, watching his car leave before jumping into her own and following. Aspen knew Christian was going out after that little bitch, and she intended to stop whatever was going on.
