Gabrielle silently ate her cereal at the table in the kitchen. It was almost surreal being back. Back in this house, back with Edge, back with Christian. She surveyed all around her. The curtains were the same. The upholstery on the bench seat by the window was the same. She was eating out of the same bowl with the same spoon she had used twenty years ago.

Gabrielle stood and went to the cabinets. One by one, she opened them. Everything was exactly as it had been the last time she was the kitchen. The cups were over the sink, the plates in the next cabinet. The corner cabinet held the lazy susan with the cereal and other canned goods. The cabinet beside the stove held the spices, flour and sugar. In the cabinet over the coffee-pot were the coffee, filters and mugs. Gabrielle stood there shaking her head when Edge and Christian came down the stairs. They looked at the scene before them and then at each other and back at Gabrielle again.

"What are you doing with all the cabinets open, Gabby?" Edge asked.

"I don’t believe this!" She exclaimed.

"What?" Asked Christian.

"You weren’t kidding when you said you had kept everything the same as it was when I left."

"What?" Edge asked confused.

"Look at this! Everything is exactly where it was when I left! The cereal, the plates, the cups… I bet if I opened that drawer over there I’d find the silverware, and under the counter there, the pots and pans."

"Yeah, so?" Christian asked.

"I mean, twenty years have come and gone, TWENTY YEARS! I’d think you’d a least get new curtains, or realize it would be more practical to put the pots and pans by the stove instead of the sink."

"Gabrielle, what are you talking about?" Said Edge.

"It just seems like since I’ve been gone, your lives have stood still. I mean, did you even change the sheets on my bed, or plant some flowers or something?"

"Um, no," said Christian.

Gabrielle sighed, put her bowl in the sink and went out the back door.

"What was that all about?" Christian asked Edge.

"I’m not sure, but I’m going to find out," He replied.

Edge started out the door after Gabrielle, only to see her heading down the driveway on his motorcycle.

"I guess I’ll find out later," he commented to no one in particular and joined Christian in closing all the doors she had left open.
