"We're all ready back here," Gabby told him. Matt drove off towards home.
"What should we listen to?" Lily pondered.
"What do you wanna listen to?" Gabby asked.
"That's why I asked you," Lily responded with a smile.
"Oh. OLP?"
"Sure," Lily agreed. She put "Clumsy" into the CD player, putting on the song "Superman's Dead." Gabby smiled and sung along quietly. Lily sung quietly too, looking out the window beyond Jeff’s head. Lily changed the CD quickly and started singing "Oh, Canada" by Five Iron Frenzy. Then she switched it back to OLP and then back to Five Iron Frenzy and left it on eventually, singing along. She glanced into the back seat.
"Uhh...why you starin at us?" Gabby inquired.
"I'm not staring. Jeffy is making me look...see?" She pointed to the hands on the side of her head. "He told me to see what'cha was doing because you were being quiet..."
"Well, he shouldn't be concerned with what’s going on back here..."
"I got worried that maybe you fell out the back door and so did he," Lily confided.
"We're fine. All here."
"Okay then. Jeffie let go of my head," Lily commanded.
"Why?" he asked.
"Cause they want their privacy. Hey...wait a sec....why doesn't Edge EVER talk?" she inquired.
"He talks! He's just always quiet and brooding."
"Yeah well...he never talks," Lily observed.
"DO SO!" Edge screamed.
"See. You made him yell."
"Don't yell at me!" Lily said, crying.
"Calm down Edge...geeze...she hasn't been around you long enough to know you that well yet," Jeff defended. Gabby slapped Edge's hand.
"Be good!" Gabby yelled. Jeff wiped the tears from her eyes and kissed her forehead.
"Don't worry...he's not normally like that. He's just not that talkative...unlike Gabby...which is why I don't get why they're such good friends..."
"Ya see, the thing about that...we don't really talk...there has never been a need to," Gabby explained. Lily sniffled and looked hurt, then looked out the window.
"Matt...are we almost home?" He nodded.
"Good, cause we're getting bored back here..."
"Well too bad..." Matt mumbled. Gabby glared at Matt, then looked out the window as well.
"Well? Did you forget? He didn't..." Lily began.
"But I've been nice...isn't that enough?" she asked.
"I don't want to fight...I don't want you two to fight...just both of you apologize..."
"I'm NOT fighting though!!" Gabby protested.
"Arguing...better?"
"I'm not arguing either!! I've been nice to him all day, and all of a sudden, he's mumbling things under his breath."
"Because he doesn't forget things....you never apologized for hurting his feelings..."
"I said I needed time..." Lily sighed.
"Whatever....then don't get huffy when he says something under his breath..."
"Lily, if I'm being nice to him, shouldn't he be nice back?" Gabby said in attempt to prove her point.
"I suppose he should." Lily poked Matt in the ribs softly. "Be nice." Matt watched where he was driving and used one hand to poke back
"Don't distract the driver," he reprimanded with a smile. Gabby smiled contentedly.
"Matt...I wanna go home," Lily whined. Matt pulled onto the bumpy dirt road to get to the barn. Gabby pointed to the barn.
"There's home, boys and girls," Gabby announced. Matt lowered the speed and parked in the make-shift garage.
"Everybody out!" Matt said. Edge grabbed Lily's crutches and jumped out after Gabby. Jeff got out and grabbed Lily, running to the barn to escape the rain. Matt walked around outside in the rain a bit. Jeff placed himself and Lily in the loft.
"Where's Matt?" Lily asked. Gabby looked around.
"I thought he was with you...?" Gabby trailed off.
"No..." Lily said, starting to get scared. "Where's Matt...somebody find Matt. Somebody find him!!!"
"Lily, calm down a second. Where does he usually go?" Gabby asked. Lily opened the loft window.
"MATT!!!!!" Lily cried out. "I don't know...he usually never leaves." Jeff climbed down and stepped outside the barn.
"Jeff can find him...right?"
"I don't know..."
"He can...he's his brother," she said, not sure if who she was trying to convince more.
"I hope you're right..." Lily kneeled before the window, staring out of it. Gabby climbed up to the loft and watched outside with Lily. "Where are they?" Lily whispered.
"They've gotta be out there...Where could they go?"
"I don't know," Lily replied shakily. She wiped a tear from her eye. She strained to hear Jeff calling for Matt. "Wait...where's X-Pac and Chrissy..." she asked, turning to glare at the empty cage. Gabby looked at the empty cage.
"Oh god...where's Chrissy??" Lily poofed herself out to the woods, crutches in hands. Gabby sighed and then poofed herself to the woods after her. Lily dropped the crutches and ran as best she could, looking for Jeff and Matt.
"Matt! Jeff! Where are you guys??" Gabby ran after Lily.
"Don't Run!!! Just wait!!" Lily grabbed the branch of a tree and swung up into the tree, crouching awkwardly, and looked around. "LILY!! Stop it. Let's just wait here, okay?"
"But...but they're lost! And so is Chrissy! How can you just do nothing?" Lily let herself out of the tree. Gabby sighed.
"I don't know what I can do...but I don't want us to get lost. So we should wait here."
"Look...that's what you can do...if we get lost, we'll just poof back to the barn," Lily pondered.
"Wait a sec here...can't I just poof them back to the barn too?"
"I don't know....can you? I can't poof that many...I'm not a goddess like you..." Lily explained.
"Well...if we each poof one at a time..." she began. Lily concentrated hard and tried to find Matt to poof. She poofed him to where they were standing. "One down..." Lily poofed Jeff as well. Gabby poofed Chris back into the cage. Lily poofed X-Pac to where they were standing. Lily beat the stuffing out of him, punching him as hard as she could. Gabby pulled Lily off of X-Pac with help from Matt and Jeff. "Lily...we were just gonna make him go away forever, remember?" Lily kicked him square in the groin with her cast foot.
"Good idea. I wanna go home now," she whined. Gabby poofed X-Pac away forever.
"Kay. Home we go." Gabby poofed herself home. Lily clapped and cheered. Lily poofed herself, Matt and Jeff home, clean and dry into the loft. "Matt? Where'd you run off to?"
"I didn't run off...I was in the van..." he explained. Gabby shook her head and sighed.
"So why didn't you answer Lily when she was yelling?"
"I couldn't hear her...I was blasting Pearl Jam while I cleaned the van..."
"Makes sense...Lily, why didn't we look in the van?"
"Because I'm moronic?" she replied.
"You are not. You were just flustered," Gabby explained.
"Basically. As long as he's home safe with me."
"And he is. God, I don't even wanna know why Chrissy ran away with that crackbaby. Ask him."
"No. I'm not talking to him."
