"Yeah...and I think now those two guys are checking us out...this is rather dysfunctional," she responded via mental mind link.
"Guys are checking us out? Whoo-hoo!" Gabby replied.
"I think our guys have finally noticed those girls checking them out...what are we going to do?"
"We're just gonna stay here and see what the guys do..."
"Good idea," Lily agreed, looking at Jeff. Gabby cleared her throat.
"Matt....that guy's staring at me." Matt looked over and saw the guy. "Well...aren't you doing to do anything?"
"Are you going to yell at me? About dragging my mind out of the gutter?" he asked with a smile.
"Huh? Why is your mind in the gutter now?"
"I never said that.....never mind Gabrielle." She stared at him blankly.
"I'm confused."
"I'm a very confusing person," he informed her, kissing her softly. Lily and Jeff sat on the bench, tickling, poking and laughing.
"Among other things..." she said, kissing him back.
"What things?" He kissed her again. She smiled.
"For starters, you're sweet..."
"And what else...surprise me..." he whispered, kissing her again.
"Lemme see...You're kinda adorable.."
"You're so sweet Gabrielle," he said sarcastically. "I did say surprise me...didn't I?" he asked with a grin. She smiled.
"Well, didn't I?" he grinned evilly.
"Well....not really."
"Well, I tried..." she pouted. He kissed her, sending her pout into oblivion. She kissed back, pulling away with a smile. "And you're good at that."
"That's something nobody ever told me," he admitted.
"Are you sure?"
"Positive. You've succeeded in surprising me." She smiled happily.
"Good." Matt nodded. "Today's special," she whispered.
"I agree," he whispered back.
"Noooo...it’s our one day anniversary."
"In order for it to be an anniversary...wouldn't that have to mean something happened?" He smiled, knowing his answer already. Gabby rolled her eyes. Matt tickled her softly.
"So why were you doing to say today was special?"
"Because. It just is. Because I finally realized how miserable I was with out you..." he told her. Gabby looked down
"You...umm...you never told me that."
"You never let me. And even if I did, would you have believed me?"
"I don't know..." she said quietly. He lifted her chin.
"No, you wouldn't have...I already know...because you didn't when I did tell you."
"What do you mean, when you told me? You never told me before..."
"Yes I did...you just don't remember. I tried to, anyway..." She sniffled quietly.
"When?" she asked.
"I came over and tried to talk to you..."
"Was that when Lily sent you over that one time?"
"Yeah."
"And then...so that’s why you got so upset..." He nodded. She threw her arms around his neck, resting her head on his shoulder. "You don't know how sorry I am."
"Yes I do..." She cried softly.
"No, you don't....you don't."
"Hey," he said, lifting your forehead and wiping the tears from her face with his soft hand. "Don't cry." She sniffled again.
"But I feel terrible...you really don't know..."
"Don't feel terrible. I told you, I don't dwell on the past."
"It’s so sad though...I can't not feel terrible." He started to sing "Amazed" to her softly. She sighed, then smiled. "Look at me...I’m bawling in the middle of a damned carnival." He nodded, but continued singing with a smile. She put her head down on his shoulder again. He finished with a smile.
"You see? My singing the other night at the beach was a one-time only thing...I changed my policy just for you."
"See, I told you ruled."
"Yeah...but you're the one that I changed it for, so you rule even more."
"Nuh-uh. You rule the mostest."
"I'd have to disagree...."
"You don't have to."
"Well...I do. Not only do you rule the most, you're the cuter one out of the two of us," he said. Gabby laughed.
"Ya really think so?"
"Yes...yes I do."
"Heh...thanks, I guess." Matt smiled. He tossed a rock over at Jeff and hit him in the knee.
"Where to next?" Matt asked.
"I wanna go on the merry-go-round..." Gabby said. Matt stood up and set Gabby on her feet, grabbing her hand.
"Then lets go," Matt said. Lily jumped off the bench and locked hands with Jeff, following the two. Gabby looked back at Lily and Jeff.
"Joining us?" she asked.
"Yes," both Jeff and Lily said together.
"Good," she said, pointing to the Merry-go-round. "Oohh, its big." Lily looked over.
"I want a blue one..."
"So go get a blue one. I want...a...Umm...white one."
"There are no blue ones...." she said, poofing a horse to blue.
"Poofing RULES."
"Poofing totally rules," Lily agreed. Gabby walked over to the still Merry-go-round, climbing up on a white horse. Lily climbed up on a blue horse, Jeff climbing on a black one beside her. Matt hopped on one, looking down and noticing it was purple.
"OH great...I get the purple horse."
"What’s wrong with the purple horse?" Gabby asked.
"Let’s see...it's...umm.....purple!?!?!?!?!?!"
"Purple means royalty. Its a good horse."
"Purple means other things too, you know," he said. Gabby shrugged.
"So?"
"All right, all right...you win." Gabby smiled.
"Do you want another horse?"
"Well....kinda."
"What color?"
"Silver." Gabby poofed the purple horse into a silver horse. "Thank you."
"Everyone all happy now?" she asked. Matt nodded, as did Jeff.
"Being on this horse only makes me want to go horse-back riding for real. I haven’t gone in so long."
"Ohhh, we can do that tomorrow," Gabby promised. Lily clapped and smiled.
"Jeff and me used to ride horses all the time when we were little."
"I'm allergic to horses...but I can get all doped up on drugs that don't make me sneeze then go."
"Or you could just poof yourself non allergic for the day." Gabby smiled at him.
"You're brilliant."
"Yes...yes I know."
"We gonna get this thing started soon?" The ride started abruptly. After a moment, she sighed. "I like more exciting rides."
"So let's get off," Matt offered. Gabby grinned evilly.
"Whatever you say." The ride stopped and he got off, offering Gabby his hand. Jeff and Lily got off, heading over to the gate to wait for them. Gabby took his hand, jumping down. Matt walked over to where Lily and Jeff were standing.
"So...where to?"
"I dunno..."
"An exciting ride. I thought you said an exciting ride?" Jeff asked.
"Well, yeah. But one that doesn't make Lily puke." Jeff poked her. Lily went poof quietly, standing there still.
"I don't care...I'll be fine."
"Well, why don't you choose then Lily," Gabby said.
"What about that one?" she said, pointing to one that was twisty and scary-looking. Gabby looked over.
"Whoa...that looks like it could scare the shit outta me!" Matt grabbed her hand and pulled her over, Jeff doing the same to Lily.
"Hey, it looks like it might be fun," Matt commented.
"It might be...but it does look reaaaaally scary."
"So? You'll be sitting next to me," Matt said. Gabby grinned.
"I know." Jeff hopped in the front with Lily, who looked over the side and down at the almost 90 degree drop on the other side of the hill. Matt hopped in behind them and patted the seat.
"I'm scared Jeffy," Lily confided. Gabby sat down beside Matt.
"Lily, even I'm scared..." Gabby said as the safety harnesses came down over their heads, locking into place. The car began to lurk up the hill. "Heeere we go," Gabby squealed with excitement. Lily had a death grip on the arm holds. Lily, Jeff and Matt looked down a moment, before the car plunged downwards and into twists, loops and turns. Gabby screamed loudly. Lily screamed as well, as did the two boys. Jeff threw his hands in the air. Gabby shut her eyes tightly. Lily already had hers shut. The ride stopped. "Thank gods," Gabby whispered to herself. Matt rested his hand on her knee.
"Scary enough?" he asked. Jeff grinned.
"I wanna do it again," he said.
"Toooo scary. For me, even," Gabby said. Jeff got up and dashed back on line. Lily looked to Matt and Gabby, and then got out.
"Jeff....hold on. I'll go on again," she sighed, walking over towards him. Gabby shook her head.
"I am not going again."
"Unless Matt will go on instead," Lily thought. "Mattie?"
"Go ahead. I'll wait here," Gabby whispered to him.
"Are you sure?" he asked. Gabby stood on her toes and kissed his cheek.
"Go have fun." Matt kissed her cheek and then jogged over to Jeff. Lily kissed Matt's cheek and then Jeff's.
"Thanks Mattie." Lily headed over towards Gabby, leaning on the side railing. Matt and Jeff boarded the car and the ride started, heading off. Gabby looked at the ride again.
"They're insane."
"Agreed. Two birds of a feather...they're almost exactly the same."
"Not really...I think they're totally different."
"They have the same taste, I meant....sometimes anyway. Swing dancing, surfing, fast scary rides...." Lily said. Gabby nodded.
"True."
"And...they like creative people...."
"Heh...yeah, they both have reaaally good taste."
"Yes...they do. So...look...full moon. And it's orangeish."
"It was a full moon last night...Oh well. Its magic here anyway."
"Yup. I want to go out to a club tonight...like we used to do before we made the barn."
"Oh, that'd be fun. We should," Gabby agreed.
"Hey...I'm basically dressed for it...and so are you. The boys are decent enough...I just gotta fix my hair."
"I know, those rides do a number on the hair." Lily poofed her hair up into two pigtailed buns.
"Think it works Gabby?" Gabby looked.
"Yup. I likes."
"Alrighty then." Gabby poofed her hair a brighter red.
"There." Lily poofed some crimson streaks in her hair.
"All right...I'm ready," she said as the boys stumbled off the ride, dizzy.
